growing out of milk allergy
Has anyone had a DC who could not tolerate cow's milk formula and then eventually grew out of it?
Our pediatrician said to try every couple of months but at 13 months, DS still has a hard time with cow's milk.
Even if he eats small amounts (like if I put cheese on his eggs) he will spit up afterwards and it smells really rancid and sour.
If your DC grew out of it, how old were they and how often would you try again?

Re: growing out of milk allergy
Well, I grew out of it, but I have no idea what my doctor told my mother to do, and whatever he told her may not be the correct thing anymore.
I think when I was about 8 I started to have milk products again.

Re: growing out of milk allergy
DS is 3 and just starting to tolerate SOME baked goods, not all of them either so right now it a toss up, but before now he could have zero milk so we are hopeful

Re: growing out of milk allergy
DS grew out of it by the time we transitioned him from formula (alimentum) to milk. However, prior to him having a bottle of milk, he had cheese and yogurt....this was to make sure he didn't have a reaction. We went to milk (very slowly) at 14 months. We started with 2 oz. milk, 6 formula, and lessesned the formula VERY slowly. Even with this slow transition, DS still spit up once in a while, and like you said, it was rancid smelling and sour. Eventually, this stopped and now he has all things dairy and is fine.

Re: growing out of milk allergy
I grew out of it and I think by 2. My DD has milk and egg allergies. She is 22 months and is showing no signs of it getting better.
