growth sono today - nervous! ***UPDATED***UPDATE#2***

I'm 36w2d today and having my second growth sono. At 32w the baby was measuring very big at 6lbs so we shall see how much more he has grown since then. The closer I am to meeting my little guy the more nervous I am! I hope his weight isn't off the charts - I'm terrified to have a csection but also terrified to go on my own. Will let you know how it goes!

UPDATE: Well the second the doc put the wand on my belly he said well your baby is certainly no peanut! Before he even did any measurements. So needless to say he has continued to grow pretty rapidly since 32w and is now estimated at 8lbs5oz. Woah nelly! I see my regular doc again on tues and I'm very anxious to hear what she has to say. My guess based on our last convo is she might likely recommend a scheduled csection.

Otherwise baby looks great and I can't believe how much I love him already!

UPDATE #2: shoot me now!!!! My doc just called to tell me she would like me to go for the 3hr glucose test AGAIN to make sure I don't have GD. Chat Icon What in the world for?! By the time I go on Monday I will be 37w. Do you think whether or not I have it is going to play a part in what she recommends my delivery options are? That's the only reason I can think she would need me to go again. I was not expecting her call so was frazzled and didn't really ask any questions.

I don't see why you'd need a c-section but I guess that is up to you and your doctor.

Good luck!

Bc I have 4 more wks to go - if he continues to grow at a rate of a half pound or more a week he could wind up between 10-11+lbs and my doc doesn't think I will be able to get him out - apparently I have a smallish pelvis (although you would never guess that by looking at me!)

Re: growth sono today - nervous! ***UPDATED***

I was measuring very big with DD - they thought she could easily be 10 1/2 lbs or more if I made it to 40 weeks. (She was growing 1/2 lb a week if I remember correctly she was estimated at about 7 lbs 14 or so at 36 weeks). They were going to induce me at 39 weeks but told me I might need a csection.

I went into labor on my own at 38 weeks - a week before I was supposed to be induced. Unfortunately due to her size and stalled labor (never went past 7 cms amongst other issues like merconium when my water broke and other issues) after being in labor for almost 24 hours I ended up with a csection - had I looked back I should have opted for the section. DD was 9 lbs 4 oz.

Remember that sonos can be 1 lb off in either direction - so he could be smaller than anticipated. A c section was not the worst thing in the world.

Good luck with whatever happens. It will all work out fine. You may find if he is measuring large that you go early. I know a few others who went early with larger babies.

Thanks so much for sharing your story I really appreciate it. My doc is def not pro csection but is concerned with my pelvis size and being able to get his head out (if that) and not anything else after that so I guess we'll see. With my anxiety level the way it is I would not handle going into labor well on my own only to wind up with an emergency c/s. As much as I would prefer not to have one if it is looking like it might be the best bet I def would prefer it be scheduled so I can prepare myself. Thanks again - it is really great to hear from BTDT moms!
