No. Its not covered by my insurance- and I have good insurance. That tells me that its just not safe enough yet.
I respectfully disagree. Your insurance company made a financial decision about whether to cover it. They may just be saving themselves a ton of money doing that. Once other pharma cos start making it after the patent expires it will be covered far a wide and the price will drop significantly.
True- but they cover every other vaccine or medicine I ever needed. So that, combined with the fact that it is still a new vaccine, makes me want to wait for more medical research . I don't see any urgency in the matter.
Not saying that you should get it or not, just bringing out that the only reason your insurance company has not covered it yet is financial. The other meds and vaccines you get have been around longer and patents have been shared and expired and fall into the cost tables that they go by.
I totally understand though that you want to wait longer to see what happens with it. I would feel the same way.

your all wrong.
This controversy on here started weeks ago and I hate to see this thread go this way as well, but....
The vaccine was created in 1989. Its been tested that long to be as potent as it is today. It was not created yesterday.
Also...the insurance companies must offer this to all members. Its not mandated yet but the government issued a statement it must be offered to all members who have adult immunization coverage...
The Government sets the 26 age limit and most insurances are bypassing that for its members.
If your insurance doesnt cover it, its only because your employer choose to not pay for "adult vaccinations".
Many employers opt out when getting insurance for its employees to pay for things like that .....

I understand that. Actually reading another poster it turns out my insurance may cover it. But even that, its just too new. I want to wait for a little more medical research.
I do appreciate and respect your points.
Wow! a civil disagreement on LIF. Could it be

there's a TON of information out there. Whether or not people choose to seek it out- well, that's another story

neenie- How were your side effects?
I havent had any (knock on wood!)
i do have to say though- for an IM injection, it actually wasn't too bad at all. I was expecting to get 'dead arm' for a day or 2 (like w/ the tetanus shot and others like it) and i didn't even have that.
Also, it's not live or attenuated.

Someone on another thread was saying HPV doesn't actually cause cervical cancer.
whoever told you that is either severly misinformed or completely lying. There are various strains, some cause warts (low risk) and others cause cervical cancer (high risk)
[/ There's so much buzz and not enough information
There's plenty of information, you just have to look for it.
And HPV/cervical cancer is not a buzz, it's serious.....

I was told by my doctor that my insurance company does not cover it, if I am under 26 and have adult immunization coverage (at least I thought I did) why would that be?

I am 28 years old. So if it is approved at some point for older women, then yes I would.

it wouldnt be.
IF your under 26, then you have no coverage for adult immunizations.
What insurance company is it?
