Had my NT Scan and beyond worried...
Had the NT Scan today. The dr pointed out to me that the fluid levels were at 2.4. Which brings my risk up for the baby having down syndrome but said its nothing I should worry about. How can I not worry when it is something they had to point out to me that they did not do this with my last 2 boys? They did check the nasal bone and that came back normal and something else but I forgot what it was. They sent my blood work out today and should have the results back in 7 days. This is going to be the longest 7 days of my life. I wonder if I call I can get them back sooner.
Did anyone ever have this kind of number and everything come back okay?
ETA-The dr did ask me what I was having and he was 70% sure it is a girl...I just want a healthy baby I dont care boy or girl...I have 2 boys and cant imagine ever having to deal with something like this...

Re: Had my NT Scan and beyond worried...
I had a high risk w ds but his measurements were all fine. It was something in my bloodwork that made the risk higher. We went to a genetic counselor and opted to not have an amnio. DS is 10000% healthy and smarter than the verage bear, if i do say so myslef lol.
Good luck! Ill say a prayer all is ok w your LO!

Re: Had my NT Scan and beyond worried...
I went through soooo much after my NT scan. Your number sounds perfect to me. I do not know if the neck thickness number is based on age though... I will say I am 39 and they said they wanted my number to be less than the cut off of 3.5 (which is higher than your number, so I don't see the concern with you).
My number came back at 4.7!!! I had a CVS test done right away, the docs thought for sure my high NT neck thickness was a definite marker for Down's or a heart defect.
I had a CVS test, an echocardiogram, many, many anatomy scans, etc. And I am in my 33rd week now and every test has indicated nothing other than normal!!
It's always so stressful! hang in there!

Re: Had my NT Scan and beyond worried...
Call your OB. My number came back a little high and I was freaking out. The dr who did the sono started talking to me about "tough decisions" and seeing a geneticist. I was losing my mind. Once I spoke w/ my OB, she said that the # was still within normal range and she had no idea why the other dr freaked me out. Your OB will be able to clarify what the results could mean.
How many weeks are you?

Re: Had my NT Scan and beyond worried...
I know it is hard but try not to worry about something that may or may not be wrong.
When I went for my NT scan they didnt say anything to me, took my bloodwork, and made an appointment for 2 weeks later. When I went back, I now saw a dr, not a sono tech, which I thought was weird. The reason I had to go back in 2 weeks was because my baby's neck had measured so thick, 3.8, that they assumed the bloodwork would come back abnormal. Thank goodness it was normal. The thickness had thinned and is closer to the normal range so they are not concerned any more. They had said that that could indicate a heart problem, so the dr spent a lot of time monitoring the heart and it again looked like everything was normal. I'll be going for a fetal echocardiogram at 22 weeks to double check that, but I have a valve problem, which is hereditary, so I am expecting that if anything to be what is wrong.
After my whole long winded story, I'm just saying not to freak out about the neck measurements yet. Mine was a lot worse and worked itself out.

Re: Had my NT Scan and beyond worried...
I had the blood work done before the scan so I had all of the results on the day of my ultrasound. My risk for Downs was fine, but my risk went up for Trisomy 13/18 based on the blood work. I met with a genetic counselor the following week who freaked me out even more. Based on my blood work, she said there could be possible growth/placenta issues. Needless to say, I've been freaking out for the past few weeks. I won't know anything more until my next round of blood work and Level II. I hope everything is okay!
