Hair chalk UPDATE #2 pic in album

Anyone use it? Hard to apply? I want a bright red color , not pink. I've gone to several salons and my hair just won't take color. Im destined to have dark hair forever. So I'm thinking of taking matters into my own hands lol and trying hair chalk just on several strands to see how it will look.

Any tips would be great. Or brands you recommend.

Tia!

Hair chalk

I tried hair chalk on my daughter because I won't let her dye it since she is only 9 lol. She is asian so her hair is straight and black. I tried red and hot pink chalk and it would not take to her hair. Almost no color at all. I tried a few brands too.

They sell a colored conditioner (basically a cream chalk) that you can comb through and then spray hairspray over it. It washes out with shampoo. Definitely takes better than the chalk you rub on.

I'm thinking about having a few pink extensions probably professionally put in my DD's hair.

Hair chalk

Red are the hardest dyes to get to take. IMO they fade quickly and if you have very dark hair would probably need to lighten the hair before dying red. A good colorist should be able to talk to about it before doing anything. I would just go to anyone for it. Research first.

I went to get my hair colored RED. The girl told me she had to lift some color from my hair and used a soap cap. I said fine. She shows me the shade of red my hair was supposed to look like, it was perfect. Well she dyes it. It looks black. I have zero luck with coloring my hairChat Icon

Since you have dark hair, I think you would need to bleach it first for the red to take and last. I wouldn't advise bleaching but saying it might be the solution.

How about colored extensions? I'm having dark purple ones put in on Friday!

ETA: I also have naturally dark hair so bleaching and than coloring was out of the question!

Re: Hair chalk

Yes sounds like you'd have to bleach the color out and add the red in. And you are right, don't start that. My hair got destroyed by too much bleach with highlights to the point it was breaking off and felt like straw. Sectons of it would actually crackle when you touched it and just snap off! Chat Icon Bleach is soooo bad on the hair.

I second the red extensions- I think that could be a great alternative!

My DD recently had some extensions put in her hair. We did a few pink and a few purple and they look pretty cool. They're subtle, but people do notice them. I think it was $10 to buy/have each extension put in (we had it done at our salon.) I wanted to do more, but DD wanted to stop at 6. Chat Icon
