Hair salons opening
My hair salon opened up their appointments starting next Thursday (I desperately need a cut and color). Would you go as one of the first people there or do you think it’s too soon and would rather wait a few weeks to see how it goes?

I'd be waiting on line outside the shop the day it opened. You have to see my grays girl.

That’s my thinking too! They’ve been closed for so long; it’s the cleanest it’ll ever be now lol

Hair salons opening
My salon just opened their phone up to take appointments today - I am on a waiting list. I would call now, people want to get their hair done.
I wish I could get a pedicure but, nails aren't phase 2.

Yes I would imagine there is going to be long waits for appts- especially if they have to take less people into the shop at one time. And then add in the fact that nobody has had their hair done in months so we are all "due" at once.

Really overdue so each appt may take longer lol... I wouldn't be surprised if they open 7x a week just to catch up since they have to be at 50% occupancy.

I have my appointment for next Saturday. They are being cautious just like in every other state. It should be fine.

We are down to 1% positive on LI. How much longer do you want to wait? This is probably the second wave now since it seems everyone had it in December, January and February and didn't know and the antibody testing doesn't go back that far.

I'd love to go but I'm pregnant and will wait it out a bit. Long as I get a cut and pedicure before baby comes in September. I bought a gel manicure kit and am attempting nails myself but it looks like a little kid painted my nails so far.

Not me. I am doing my own roots at home now (box color) and trimming my own hair as best I can. I dont plan to do my hair or nails until a vaccine comes out or there is proof that the virus is no longer circulating.

Off topic, but what do you mean that the antibody testing doesn’t go back that far?

Exactly. There were like 85 positives yesterday.

That's good...
"On Long Island, six weeks ago, 20 percent of tests were coming back positive for the virus. Four weeks ago, that number was down to 11 percent, which dipped to 4 percent two weeks ago. Now, just 2 percent of COVID-19 tests on both Long Island and New York City are being returned positive"

I use to get my eyebrows threaded every 10 days so you can imagine what I look like. But I haven’t heard any mention of what precautions threading salons will have to take in order to be able to open. Have you heard or read anything?

It's good. More people probably have strep throat right now than that

They have said that the testing will only tell you for the last few weeks. Not if you had it months ago. I have friends who had it done who probably had it and it came back negative. Too many that should have been positive.

I haven’t heard anything and wonder if they will even open since they use their mouth to hold the thread. I hope that doesn’t happen.
My eyebrows are so horrible too lol. If I find out anything, I will let you know.

I would go. And I would go ASAP because they are probably going to be booked out for weeks since they cant book clients on top of each other like they normally do. I cut and color my own hair so don't need it...
