Half Marathon Training Question
I'm running a half on March 4th. Do you think I could do another one 9 weeks later? It wouldn't give me a full training cycle, but I would probably be able to start in the middle somewhere right? Or am I just asking for injury if I do that?
TIA!

Re: Half Marathon Training Question
yeah, i think so as long as you complete the first one without major injury. I did a full marathon ~12 weeks after my first half.. I had a stress fracture in my foot so had to take 4 weeks off too in that 12 weeks, so I definitely think it is doable. Good luck!! Which half marathons are your running?

Re: Half Marathon Training Question
Excellent! I'm doing the Rock n Roll half in New Orleans on the 4th, and I'm thinking about the Long Branch half in May. It was my first half last year and Id love to see if I can do it again and improve!

Re: Half Marathon Training Question
I think you should be fine. If you are used to running longer distances, you really do not need much time to recover. I ran a half on New Years Day and was ready to go the next day. I usually run a long run (10-12 miles) once per week.

Re: Half Marathon Training Question
I ran my first two half marathons within 6 weeks of each other. I didnt have to retrain, I just maintained my normal weekly mileage (with tapering the week before).

Re: Half Marathon Training Question
Do your best with the training, get the proper nutrition, especially for your recovery drink, and plenty of rest. You should be fine.
and enjoy the race!

Re: Half Marathon Training Question
I definitely think so. I've run half marathons on back to back weekends. If you're used to the distance your body should definitely recover in time.
