Has anyone been having major problems with their Cablevision DVR?

For the past few weeks, I will record a show and it will only play the first few seconds of it then cut off, or it will tell me "Unable to play video at this time," when I try to play something recorded. It's driving me crazy. Anyone else having these problems? I know I need to call Cablevision for it but I know I'm goog to be on the phone with them for 3 hours Chat Icon

Mine was being crazy...it was going all blue...so I just turned off the cable box and TV, let it sit for a few minutes, and then it stopped.

I am starting to hate Cable and I only switched back to it a few months ago. The DVR is horrible, gets stuck, the rewind and FF are the worst!

Yep! Since they changed the channel guide, nothing and I mean NOTHING has worked properly. Shows that have been on winter hiatus are not recording, 30 minute shows are now being recorded for 4+ hours, the feed goes in and out, sometimes the sound decides not to work.

Just totally blows that in the Township of Brookhaven, Cablevision is the only game in town (Cable wise)

My DVR has working totally fine but my regular cable box periodically freezes, it's very odd...

Could it possibly be that you don't have anymore space? The same thing happened to me a few weeks ago & as soon as I erased some recorded shows it was fine to record again.

it keeps cancelling shows that i set up to record, even when there is a ton of space! it's infuriating because i keep having to double check each day that something i want recorded is actually set, which kinda defeats the purpose...

Yes, I can't stand my Cable DVR. I've called them numerous times and they never know what the problem is. It will sometimes just not record things or if it does, it keeps freezing every two seconds or will shut off half way through and not play again, at times it will record things I never asked it to...so frustrating!

i think they rolled out the new DVRs to early. They needed more time to work out kinks and make sure it has all the features that the old one had.

I have had many problems the newer ones. The only thing i will say i really like is that you can record up to 4 show at one time and still watch TV ... when it actually decideds to work

I still have the old one and i refuse to give it up till they fix all the issues esp. the one that you cant rewind live TV.

Re: Has anyone been having major problems with their Cablevision DVR?

We have the issue where the shows freeze and pixelize while you're watching it. Seems to happen when something else is taping, or if you were taping two shows at once. So annoying!

I get this a lot now (new HDTV) and nothing is being taped (don't have DVR). Very annoying! I thought it was the tv since it never happened with the old tube tv.

Yes - had all the abovementioned problems. My husband called them and they said they are trying to work out some "issues" they had.

Has anyone been having major problems with their Cablevision DVR?

Always. NOthing with the picture, just new episodes won't record at random but according to CV, it just wasn't a new episode which is total bull. General Hospital has 3 repeats a year, if even, so every episode is new! Asshats. I've said it before and I'll say it again... If Fios was available in my area (stupid Town of Brookhaven), I'd switch in a heartbeat.

Re: Has anyone been having major problems with their Cablevision DVR?

Yep -

If I am watching an entire show, but decide to record it halfway through , it is only recording from when I presses the record button. It used to backtrack to the beginning of the show, as long as the tv was on from the beginning.

Also - it is so annoying to get to the "record this episode only" option. Too many buttons to push to get there.

Some of my shows didn't DVR.

And it is recording repeat episodes, when I always set the DVR for new episodes only

Re: Has anyone been having major problems with their Cablevision DVR?

I switched to Cablevision from Fios a few months ago and have regretted the decision since then. We are switching back as soon as the deal ends that Cablevision gave us. The amount of aggravation is not worth saving a few dollars.

Can't stand my DVR, which is why i'm usually watching things on free on demand since the dvr doesn't tape what it's supposed to lately.

Re: Has anyone been having major problems with their Cablevision DVR?

When mine does that I unplug and reset it then it works. Idk about it stopping recording.

Mine tapes all eps of shows ever though I tell it first run. Then it has no room for shows I want.
