Re: Has anyone ever used an at home fetal heart monitor? do they work?
I have an older one (bebesounds) that my sis apssed along to me. I have been trying to use it since around 10 weeks. I have not heard anything I would say is the hb. At 24 weeks I tried it the other day and still not much of anything. Except I could hear when the baby kicked.

i have angelsounds and have been able to hear the HB since about 13 weeks. it's really comforting when LO has a day or two where he doesn't move much.

I rented one when I was PG with my DD. I will be doing the same again this time - although they are cheap enough to buy now. I found it very comforting. I would listen to her HB at night before bed. Made me feel better every day

They're fabulous. I rented a hospital-grade one from Babybeat.com and could hear the heart beat clear as day by 11w. It was really great for me, because I'd had some bleeding episodes - one at 14w that was really heavy and scary - and could always just put the monitor on my belly afterwards for reassurance.
The ones you can buy at Target or BBB are a waste - you can't hear anything until the third tri, and by that time DH can put his ear to your belly and hear the heart beat just as well.

I love mine!! I have a sonotrax 3MHz. I used it through my pregnancy with DS. This time around I was actually able to pick up the heartbeat starting at 9.5w, since I knew where to find it!!

I rented one from babybeat.com as well because my placenta is in front of the baby and blocks a lot of movements....i didnt feel too many before 30 weeks......I too checked the baby's heartbeat at night and whenever i was nervous....it made me feel so much more at ease

I have the angel sounds and it worked wonders. I also used water and not the gel.

You can buy an Angelsounds on Amazon for pretty cheap - I think $30 or $40. When I was 10w and bleeding and freaking out, they were all sold out on Amazon so I rented one from Babybeat.com. It costs $40 or $45 a month - they keep billing your cc until you mail it back.
I mailed it back in 2 months because my cousin gave me her Angelsounds. I can't tell you how soon the Angelsounds works, but the BabyBeat picked up the hb at 10w, and by 18w when I got the Angelsounds I was able to find the hb easily with it.
