Has anyone ever yeard of this? I'm totally skeeved after staying at my parents' house!

This is not new. I grew up with it, but just being there again the weekend of the 4th reminded me of it.
Anyways, my parents don't line any of their garbage cans with bags except the kitchen. NOT even the bathroom trash. I was taught those trashes were "decoration" and not to be used. But when you have a BBQ and 30 people over your house, they do NOT know this, and it gets soooo nasty. And you have to use the bathroom trashes! How can you not? I remember growing up when my mom would change the trash she would sometimes miss floss and I would find it on the floor later 
Has anyone else ever known someone that does this?

We lined every garbage pail. Not everyone does though, but it saves a lot of washing out of the pails.

i dont line mine either. i empty it every day.
i know we all have our "issues" and Lord knows I have mine - but I think you might be overreacting just a tiny bit. Just don't touch the garbage in the bathroom LOL

We don't line ours and my parents didn't either when I was growing up. I never thought of it being an issue or gross or anything like that.

I have always used a bag in the garbage. Didn't matter if it was kitchen or bathroom. Made taking out the garbage that much easier. I can see not lining the bathroom one, but the kitchen???

Come to think of it, my mother rarely put bags/lining in the bathroom pails. she just emptied it every few days with the trash. Of course we did find things on the floor that didn't make it in, but i never found anything wrong with it.
Now in my own house I put a bag in the bathroom. We have soooo many plastic shopping bags, we need to get rid of them somehow!

I have to have bags in my garbage bins but that is me. DH never puts one in the main bathroom that he uses when he cleans the bathroom. It too skeeves me but I rarely use it.

I have a ceramic bathroom trashcan.
I dont line mine.
When I empty it, I wash it out with Lysol.

I'm trying to find out what people are doing with the bathroom trash cans that would make it so skeevy Unless you are drinking out of them, I really don't see the big deal 
I personally put a grocery bag in them since it's easier to empty them. My mom never did growing up.

I'm just thinking between q-tips, floss, tissues, and sanitary napkins, it can get kinda gross. I don't know, I guess it's just me then.

My kitchen pail is ALWAYS lined. Because of the food, liquid, etc...
My bathroom and DS' pail are not always lined. It's usually tissues or a NEATLY folded diaper. We empty them. Then just Lysol the inside regularly for germs.
I don't see why this is disgusting to have tissues in the bathroom trash. It's not like I used used dirty TP and put it in the trash.
But sometimes I do put a liner. I only use it because it's easier to collect trash before garbage day.
I don't freak if it's not lined one day.

I agree with Tilde. While I ALWAYS line the kitchen garbage and change it often - I generally don't think to line the wastepaper baskets in the bathroom or the office.. they are tiny and it seems a waste of time. And they are rarely used at all.
When we have a BBQ and it is used.. it gets emptied and cleaned. No big deal for us.

i have little garbage bags for the bathroom pails. I hate whenDH empties his and doesnt put a bag in and i go in there and find tons of tissues, qtips, and other bathroom stuff in there. you're not alone.

I always put a bag in each garbage pail, bathrooms, and kitchen. I would be skeeved too if I did not and just threw garbage in there but that is me!

I don't line mine and like you thought it was for decoration. However, my inlaws love to use it so when I know they are coming I purposely have a liner in it. Otherwise no liner. They are the only people I know who actually use the trash bin in the bathroom. Everyone else uses the decorative towels I put out. Which also get washed and replaced.
ETS: Kitchen, DS and our garbage pails and the one in my master bath are always lined. It is just the one in the downstairs bath that is not b/c we rarely if ever need to put something in it.

i line every pail/can in our home. DH didn't grow up with the bathroom pails lined so that's been an interesting compromise. but it does gross me out if the pail is unlined. but that's just me!

I line all the cans, and I guess I've never really thought about it one way or the other.
However, it seems funny to me that some people use a garbage can as a decoration! What are you supposed to do at that "time of the month" or with tissues, etc?!!

If I remember to buy the small bags I do line the bathroom cans but I haven't remember in a year an half . I clean my bathrooms once a week and part of my cleaning is clean the trash can (letting it soak a little).

my friends mother used to do this. it's disgusting! everytime you dump out the trash, you have to clean the garbage can. who has that kind of time?
ugh - epsecially in the bathroom with floss, q-tips, used tissed, etc

All of my garbage pails are always lined...I'm kind of a germaphobe, and it's just much easier to lift the bag out and throw it in the big garbage when taking it out.

My family never lined the bathroom or bedroom ones either, so I don't either. It was usually just tissues. If we were sick, my mom would put a plastic bag in our bedroom waste baskets in case we threw up.
I recently read a tip ( I think it was Heloise) suggesting putting tissue aoer or wraping paper in the bottom & just replacing it when it is dirty.
I think I am going to try that.
I hate the way plasticbags look hanging over the edge of the waste basket & I hate using so many plastic bags just for trash.
