has anyone filed a complaint with DEpt of labor or OSHA?
there is massive construction going on in my company due to rennovations and moving floors. the floor they moved us to is half done and literally 10 ft from my desk, demolition work is being done.
we have black tarps hanging, drop cloths and wooden plank tile things to walk on through the hallways, dust on people's desk from demolished sheet rock, and apparently mold growing in my coworker's mug. Im worried about the crap in the air among other things.
has anyone filed a complaint with the dept of labor/occupational safety board and faced repurcussions?
im tempted to file b/c the noise for most of the day is insane and the management around here think this is an acceptable way to do rennovations.

Unfortunately no, but mold in the coworkers cup means it's been there a LONG time. Probably nothing fresh. How long has this been going on?
I am 99% sure you can file an anonymous complaint.

she uses the mug every day...it wasnt there before until a few days ago. i find that gross. maybe it was just residue or something that fell in it when they were working. im not sure.
the work has been going on this floor since we moved down here Feb 5th. and it was going on long before that while other dept's moved to this floor. They've been moving people in phases after one part of the work is done . the phase of the work they are doing now is right next to my dept's area. demolition work all day long.
and we've been told its done during the day b/c they do not want to pay for overnite or weekend shifts. Nice...

What does HR say ? I'd definitely contact OSHA - you can do it anonymously. I could deal with the tarps and the plywood floor, but NOT with breathing in drywall dust day in and day out. I'd also get a face mask and wear that during the dusty construction.

I would contact OSHA but in the meantime I would have your supervisor talk to the foreman on the job. Plain and simple: they need to have better dust protection setup.
As for the tarps and stuff, that is normal. A pest, yes, but it would be 1000% worse if they weren't there.
For the not paying the money part, trust me, the workers would rather be there at night getting more money and not bothering you all. ;) Shame on the project manager for not planning better.

Re: has anyone filed a complaint with DEpt of labor or OSHA?
thank you. i briefly looked at that this morning. my boss has spoken to the foreman and we were told that there wouldnt be dust, but there was. and that the loudest work would be between 7-9 am and here we are 11am and they're pounding away.
the buildings/office management in charge of this project just walks around trying to look important and like they care, but they dont b/c numerous complaints have been made and nothing is done
thanks everyone for the input!
