Has anyone flown Frontier Airlines out of Islip yet
My dad just left today to go home. He flew up from Tampa on Friday. He said new planes but the seats are "like a bus". Very little padding. He went home today. Delayed 15 mins but over had no issues.

I saw on FB it is super, super budget. You pay for EVERYTHING (bags, snacks, drinks, etc). I guess you can't expect much for $50 tickets.

Do you have to pay to use the bathroom too? (I'm only half joking and that is scary! )

It's very similar to Spirit and Allegiant.
They also have the same issues - if for some reason your flight gets cancelled, it may be a few days before they can rebook you.

Re: Has anyone flown Frontier Airlines out of Islip yet
I didn't realize they were flying out of Islip. I just checked and if I wanted to go tomorrow or Saturday last minute i can get a ticket for only $20 bucks. That's super cheap.
One thing with southwest if you want to fly last minute they are expensive, but these budget airlines that are "a la carte" for extras like baggage always seem to have cheap fares even last minute.
Maybe i'll try flying them one time if I can get a $20 fare and just have a southwest flight booked a few hours later that i can cancel if the Frontier doesn't end up flying.

Well every airline you pay to check your bags now, except Southwest. I don't really care for the snacks and drinks on the plane to begin with, so that doesn't bother me. I mean, a small bag of peanuts or wheat thins isn't exactly a meal to begin with.

I heard they charge for carry on bags too though. Is that true?

Yes - Spirit and Allegiant do too. You get a free item that fits under your seat.
I kind of like it though - because you don't get all of those people trying to take a regular sized suitcase as a carry on so the plane boards and de-planes a lot quicker.

Of course it isn't a meal. No one said it was.
Some airlines do give 1 free checked bag depending on the ticket.
Frontier charges for carry-on bags that don't fit under the seat. So a bag that needs to go in the overhead bin is charged.
But people will gladly pay $50 an airline ticket and still complain, you get what you pay for in this case.

I heard once that some airline was considering letting you check luggage for free (1-2 bags) but charging you for carry ons. I LOVED that idea. Because of what you mentioned = the dragging of HUGE luggage onto the plane and taking forever trying to make it fit in the overhead. It's annoying.

OMG I agree...and people do this on Southwest...why not just check the flipping bag?! Then they have to stop and open every single bin that was closed because it was full. Thus, backing up the entire line of people that need to get on. It's SO annoying.

I agree with last minute pricey flights on Southwest. The last few times I flew them, very recent, half the plane was empty, yet they were charging $500 for that flight one way.

Has anyone flown Frontier Airlines out of Islip yet
My husband just flew to Orlando and back. He said it wasn't comparable to JetBlue or anything but for $120 RT (including a carry on), he said it was fine.
