Has anyone painted the plain oak cabinets?
I actually posted this on the saturday morning that LIF crashed but it wasnt saved.
We have a REALLY tiny kitchen in our vacation home. We thought of replacing the cabinets with ikea but I think I want to try painting them. We already picked a backsplash and we are going to get a white quartz top & new sink. The 1950's gas range is also getting replaced. DH will add a bit of crown molding to the top to make them look nicer.
I searched everywhere online & most pics are painted grey or black. I can't find white.
What do you think?
If you've done this do you have pics?

Has anyone painted the plain oak cabinets?
We've thought about it but we have a few big projects that are higher on the list. Check out the rustoleum cabinet transformation system. If we decide to go for it we'll probably try that. If you do it, let us know how it goes and share some pics!

Yes, I second Rustoleum! They have tons of color options. Check them out

My parents just did rustoleum on their cabinets it looks awesome! It looks like a brand new kitchen they did a creamy white.

this post is inspiring me to try it too! we want to redo our bathroom but its not in the budget - seems like this would be a quick fix (although not necessarily an easy one)

I painted the oak cabinets in the bathroom in my old house (no pics, sorry). It was long before the Rustoleum product was made. They came out beautiful! I just sanded them down first, painted with a good quality paint (I just used a latex semi-gloss), and applied new hardware. Easy!

Looking at the site and all the before/after pics! Very interested! Can anyone give me an idea of how much this cost and how long this took you to do?

We thought about it, our kitchen looks like it had the same set up as yours, but we ended up just doing a full gut & reno. We knocked down walls, are replacing cabinets, appliances, everything. It ended up being for the best for us. Your cabinets look much newer than ours were (I think the kitchen had last been done about 45 years ago).

I think it was around $80? We got it from Home Depot.
