Ok, so here's my painted cabinets!

Now, mind you, we still have a ton to do in our kitchen, but at least I have my cabinets done. It was actually really easy! I'm so glad I did it. From start to finish it took me 48 hours. So, the first are a couple of before pictures. Yesterday we ripped up the carpet (Chat Icon who puts that in the kitchen?) and we'll be laying the tile next week. We're also getting a new countertop and stove hood because, um, it's tan and not white??Chat Icon So let me know what you think!

They look great! We painted ours white as well - it's amazing how different it makes the kitchen look!

Wow, just wow. What a difference.

May I ask how long you lived with your old kitchen?

Thanks, everyoneChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I didn't think they'd turn out as nice as they did, but I'm impressed with myselfChat Icon

I'm not sure what type of countertop we're going to get, yet. I think I need to see the floor installed. Also, we need to pick a backsplash.
We lived with our old kitchen since we moved in a little over a year ago, so not long, but it's the original kitchen to the house, which is 70 years old. Chat Icon I have to say, I really love our cabinets, as old as they are, they're SO big and spacious and they're solid wood. I'd never be able to afford an updated version of what they are. I'd say the biggest improvement, though, was adding the dishwasher. I could have lived with the ugliest cabinets in the world once we installed thatChat Icon

Okay, now I think I have to do it too! My cabinets are SO similar to yours!! Seeing this was very inspiring.

Did you change the hardware too (the hinges)?

I have all this time off I can take this year and nowhere to go - maybe in the fall I will take a few days off to do the cabinets.

GREAT job - it looks FANTASTIC!

Re: Ok, so here's my painted cabinets!

I kept the hinges because I couldn't find ones to fit the door thickness, but I changed the knobs. Honestly, I kind of like the old look of the hinges and our knobs are "aged" looking, too.
