Has anyone rented a doppler?

I have heard you can rent these for a period of time so you can listen to the baby's heartbeat at home.
Has anyone done this? Do you have a website link?

I didn't, but a few people on the board have.

But I do know that they can cause hysteria b/c if you don't know what you are doing and can't find a heartbeat it would definately freak you out.

If I remember correctly, there are better ones and cheaper models that were not recommended for that reason.

You may want to speak to your doctor about it. Mine was not a fan of them - not enough research, and technically you are "disturbing" the baby when you use it.

Plus, I agree with Kate. Sometimes it takes my doc awhile to find the heartbeat because she is so active. I would totally freak if I was home and couldn't find it.

Re: Has anyone rented a doppler?

Thanks - I am not one who gets neurotic about things and I am not thinking about getting one so I can check it everyday or anything.
I just don't think my DH will be able to go to very many Dr. Appointments with me b/c of his job. I think it would nice if he had the oppurtunity to hear the baby's heartbeat, that is all. I will def. check out babybeat - Thanks!

Re: Has anyone rented a doppler?

I used hearttones.com and it worked great.

I believe it was $16 a month.

I agree, definitely ask your doctor. They do disturb the baby, and no one seems to know what the effects of using them often may be, so ask before buying.

My doctor said the same thing when I mentioned wanting one.

This just reminded me, the babies "run" from them so that can make hearing the heartbeat harder too.
