Has anyone started buying baby/child stuff before you get preggo?
DH laughed at me because I went and bought a ton of nice children's books before we even started to TTC. 
I haven't bought anything else though...yet....

My mother has bought clothes for my future daughter, which I just think is ridiculous. I did buy a few things when I was about 10 weeks pregnant, but unfortunatley I wans't out of the woods yet and miscarried. So, no I won't be buying anything until I'm sure that the next pregnancy is progressing.

no way... that is a huge kannuhera!!(sp?)
In the Jewish religion, if you are religious, you are not supposed to even buy anything before the baby is born. This is typically why we don't have baby showers.
Practicality has taken over,and of course people prepare for a baby that is coming. But to buy something before you are even pg, I personally feel is setting yourself up for disappointment. But, to each their own.

I bought a onesie over a year about before we were even thinking about TTC. It was the cutest thing I have ever seen and it was at one of those Shecky's things so I knew I had to get it then or never have it. I figured I've wasted way more than $30 on stuff before so if it wasn't meant to be it wasn't meant to be. I'll admit I did bring it out after my BFP to take a peek and fell in love with it all over again!

I agree. I would never buy baby related items before getting pregnant. Although I'll register, I probably won't buy anything or bring it into my house until after  is born.

My family tradition is similar & we are Italian. Supposely your not supposed to bring anything in the house baby related until the baby actually arrives. A shower is given after the birth too.
Its traditionally given by the girls mom too. I always hav this conversation with my mom that iI want the shower b4 , but I agree with the OP , god forbid you may be setting yourself up for ,,,

No. Its not because I am superstitious, I just don't like to do things like that before they are real. Its like the same thing where i wouldn't buy wedding magazines before I was engaged.

absolutely not.... what if i never get pregnant? or something happens to the baby?
there are not certain things you just can't always plan on and babies fall under that for me.
although when i am preganant, i will look forward to picking things up for the baby. but i don't think i would until i was safely "out of the woods"

I have some clothes put away but I didn't buy them, they were hand me downs.
I did have a bassinet that I bought because I felel in love with it. But that was in the begining of TTC and now 14 months later I would look at it and hate that it reminded me of how long this process is taking. I gave it to a friend.
So now I won't buy anything else.

I ordered a green toile Moses basket when we started TTC. It was perfect and good for either  or
I kind of wanted something tangible for the baby if that makes sense.

we have a TON of clothes (i found a clearance section at k-mart). We have everything they had Winnie the Pooh or Tigger!!!
we also have a bunch of toys - same clearance section!
the way i see it is if we have problems or cannot have children, we are going to adopt and everything will be used (even if not by us).
