There's really nothing they could prescribe for a viral infection. Keep DC hydrated, give them tylenol/motrin and a cool bath.
Jayden had a pretty high fever a few weeks ago. After day 2 or a fever that fluctuated between 102-104.6, the doc said that as long as he was wetting diapers we should just let it run it's course. if he had the fever after day 5 to bring him back.

.
Nor should they. That is part of the reason people are so antibiotic resistant.
I am sorry DC doesn't feel well. Hopefully the fever will break soon

Well, I assume they are having you use something to bring the fever down, right?

yup-4 kids and it has happened more then a handful of times. Antibiotics are only given for bacterial not viral. Viralis plenty of fluids, whatver they will eat, pedialyte or gatorade and lots of tv and hugs! It is actually great he is not med happy alooooooooooot of them are! Use motrin if its high-if it does not work alternate it with tylenol.
hope your dc feels better quick! can be anywhere from 3-5 days to feel great.

B/C bacterial infection shows different symptoms ...If there is no lung sounds indicating infection, no green/yellow snot or bumps on the throat tonsils and or no severe vommitting its viral. Nothing you can do for a viral infection but medicate the fever with Tylenol or Motrin....

Re: Has anyone's DC had a high fever and the ped won't prescribe anything
DC had a high fever for 3 days with no other symptoms. On the 4th day he did quick blood work in the office. He sent it to the lab and got the blood results that day and it seemed to be nothing bacterial. That night the fever broke and he got a rash...roseola.
ETA: To keep the fever down rotate every 4 hours between tylenol and motrin. You dont want to let the fever get high...especially at night when fevers spike. Lots of fluids...if he eats he eats but it is very important to keep them hydrated when they have high fevers. Also try luke warm baths to help bring the fever down.
