Has this ever happened to anyone...Toll ticket from rental car company
We went to Disney in October and used Dollar Rental Car...
Today I get a letter in the mail stating that we went thru a .05 (nickel) toll w/ out paying and that they payed the charge and were charging my credit card a $25 violation fee
#1, there is no WAY we went through any toll...no way in heck
#2 , Dollar pushed us very hard to take their unlimited "toll" package for some ridiculous fee ( which we declined, we were going to be staying in the Disney area and it would not have been worth it at all)
I started to tell my friend about it and she said Thrifty in Florida did the same thing to her back in June and told her she went thru a .50 toll and charged them a $45 violation fee She is in the process of fighting it and said that she was awaiting them to get a "picture" (assumably from the hwy dept?)
I can't help but think this is crooked somehow and was wondering if anyone on here had a similar occurence
Also, are Dollar and Thrifty sister companies ?

Are you SURE you didn't go through a Toll..the tolls for their IPASS (EZPASS) just look like you are driving on the highway there are no toll booths..the cash lanes are completely off to the side almost like a little exit. I know I blew through one once..but I knew I did it..and I recieved a fine.. the fine isn't from the rental company its from the IPASS people or whoever b/c you blew a toll..the rental company is just passing along the fine.
HTH!

If you google toll scam FL a few sites come up with complaints.
I would send a letter back stating you need to see the violations letter, date, time, location to verify it was yours.
Also state that you didn't leave the Disney premises.

Thanks ....
Although obviously there could be that 1% chance we somehow made a mistake (especially since you are saying that there arent toll booths for their IPASS) , both DH and I are pretty anal with driving so I'm "relatively" sure that this is some kind of mistake/scam or something or another....Just seems way too wierd to me , then finding out the same thing happened to my BFF really makes me
I also get what you mean about them passing on the info, from what I'm reading the $25 violation goes to Dollar as an admin fee which seems really extreme ..

I live in Florida, definately look into it. I once rented a car and got a call 3 weeks later that the car was returned with alot of damage. Well I had my return paper they gave me saying car was fine. Never heard from them again.

Dollar and Thrifty are sister companies.
Do what Barb said and you should be fine.
I work for Avis Budget Group (we are currently in the process of buying Dollar Thrifty). I'm not sure I hold that much power, but if you keep having problems please let me know and I'll see if I can help at all.

Thanks for the insight Lauren, and very sweet of you to offer to try to help
I am definately going to do what Barb said...Thankfully the amount is not big, but at this point the principal of it is whats bothering me ! And it is interesting for me to know that Dollar and Thrifty are sister companies

Re: Has this ever happened to anyone...Toll ticket from rental car company
The same thing happened to my parents when we went down to FL, apparently through investigating it they said there's some kind of glitch with the rental cars and the scanners in the toll booth things... something weird and I don't remember exactly what the outcome was but I know for sure it happened to us and that we found out it's one of those things where we didn't really blow the toll, but it didn't register correctly or something. My advice for the future would be to always pay cash and get a receipt, that's what we do now, we don't trust the toll rental car thing.

Call up "i-Pass" and ask for the fine to be removed - I know E-Z Pass will do this for a first time violation maybe "i-Pass" will do it as well.
