SEVERAL times. I've also had notes left at my car, and had gas station attendants give me estimates while pumping my gas.
My car is a little banged up!

I'd never let a strange man follow me ANYWHERE, especially not to my home or my friend's home. I'd certainly not get out of the car for him then.
Sorry, hate to be a downer, but I think you took a huge risk letting him follow you and getting out of the car.

i agree with this 100%.
i'm glad the situation worked out in your favor. at least you were on a busy street like you said. i'm a chicken and would have drove away like a manic if someone said this to me
