Re: Have any of you moms not had your DC get shots...
I did not delay any shots.. even got the Flu shot wehn she was 6 months old. She gets the flu shot every year.
DO not delay them to long esp is you want to put them in school at 2 . they need to be up to date with shots.
DD will be 3 and I have seen no problems with her and no signs of Autism.. She is actually bery bright...
I followed the Drs schedule....every 2 months .. i even got her the HepC when it was offered it to me because it makes me feel alittle safer

I am delaying them and spreading them apart - I do not believe in the autism/Vacs connection, and I work in the field... I am doing it mostly because i can't imagine it being good for the baby to get loaded up with all this stuff at once...

Re: Have any of you moms not had your DC get shots...
We got all shots in accordance with our pediatrician's schedule. Never more than 2 shots at any one visit, and we had the MMR at 18 months and the chicken pox at 2 years.
ETA: wE've never done the flu shot, for either of my kids.

My ped said to pass on the Hep vacine in the hospital because he likes to wait until his patients are one month old.
We did this.
we did this as well.
I use my ped's immunization schedule. He knows better than me.

I follow my PED's schedule. He will never do more than 2 shots at once which I like. I trust him completely.

we did not delay and she got her first Hep B shot in the hospital, no need to delay. There is NO scientific proof to link the vaccines to autism, even the MMR- it was the mercury to believe causing autism and the vaccines no longer have mercury in them. on the flip side to delaying or not getting vaccines according to the CDC there are diseases such as Scarlet Fever coming back and it was said that many old diseases will come back due to parents delaying or not having their children vaccinated which puts children at risk. but I thought it is mandatory for your DC to be fully vaccinated to enter school?
just an FYI, thimerasol (mercury) is still in some vaccines, you can request a thimerasol-free vaccine, but they are at times difficult to obtain. MY oldest daughter had all her vaccinations on time and she had bloodwork 1 month ago and the "heavy-metal" toin in her body was abnormally high and the doc said "I see it is 95% of the klids because of the vaccinations" Pretty scary, we are delaying the MMR until aftre my son is 2 and we will wait until he HAS to have the chicken pox vaccine with the start of nurdery school.

Re: Have any of you moms not had your DC get shots...
We've gotten all her shots according to doc's sched. She even got her Hep b shot as a newborn.
I would rather her get them over with than dragging them out. I gave her the flu shot too, the flu can kill a baby. I would rather have the shot than lose my baby girl to the flu.
My doc doesn't give any vaccines to kids under the age of 3 with a preservative in it.
It was worse on me than her though, her 2, and 4 month visit, she got 4 shots. But only 1-2 after that for each visit.
To us the benefits far outweigh the risks and I would rather have her protected than come down with a disease that a vaccine could have protected her from.

Re: Have any of you moms not had your DC get shots...
We skipped the Hep B in the hospital because DH wasn't in the room at the time they came around to talk about it and we decided we wanted to discuss it before just giving it to her.
Yesterday she had a few and we will follow the ped's schedule.

Re: Have any of you moms not had your DC get shots...
I've been following my Dr.'s schedule and I feel pretty comfortable. The only thing that bothered me was the last time at his 6 month check up. He got 3 shots. One was the flu shot. I wish I had had more time to think about it. I probably would have left t he flu shot off.

Re: Have any of you moms not had your DC get shots...
DD received all the recommended ones except for the flu shot - dont believe in giving her that and she is 14mths and has not had the MMR yet...going to hold off until 2 on that one.

really?????? I spoke to my ped about the vaccines and the whole autism thing for about 30 minutes in his office because I was very concerned. I also spoke to him about spreading them out and he gave me literature and thouroughly went over each vaccine and information regarding them ( he was also DH's ped and good friend of the family so I totally trust him) and he told me the vaccines no longer had thimerasol in them. Can you tell me which vaccine your dr told you still has mercury in it? I would like to let my ped know. thanks
also autism is diagnosed up into the age of 5.

I thought this too...but after researching, it says that even when given the 5 shots at once, the baby is using less than 1% of it's immune system! I found this very interesting.

I recently heard this too which was surprising.
I didn't delay any vaccines....we had to wait a bit on the MMR because of dd's egg allergy but she got it around 22 mths. We can't do the flu shot because of the egg allergy.
