Have some money left on gift cards to BRU and want to use them, here are our options....

Just wondering what you guys think are the most important things to get on this list that we didn't get at the showers.

-Changing Pad Covers (how many?)
-Sound Sleeper Soothing Audio Machine
-Car Seat protection for car (worth it??)
-Bumbo seat (& play tray?)
-Sleep positioner
-A 2nd diaper bag
-Tub side Seat & Storage
-Extra Sheets (only got one - how many more?)
-Diapers (can we get them somewhere else for cheaper like costco? Only got one big box of size 2)
-Wipes
-Wicker Baskets for closet (got 2 need 2-3 more)
-Books
-Baby Jogger City Mini accessories:
-parent console
-cooler bag
-child tray

-Diapers (can we get them somewhere else for cheaper like costco? Only got one big box of size 2)
-Wipes - HELL yeah to both LOL!

-Baby Jogger City Mini accessories:
-parent console - useful for outings (malls etc)
-cooler bag - might come in handy later
-child tray - not needed yet

i have 2, i would recommend having 3 in case you don't get to do laundry right away

i loved this but never had the tray, i highly recommend it


-Sleep positioner

wait until the baby comes. some babies don't need it, mine did, and it was nice to pick the one i thought would fit his needs best.

-A 2nd diaper bag

i never used my smaller one. now that DS is older and needs less, i use DH's all the time, it's a backpack style.

-Extra Sheets (only got one - how many more?)

check out the Ultimate Crib Sheet. it snaps on so it's easier to take off and put on, plus it's got a waterproof lining underneath. it's more expensive but worth the money IMO.



-Diapers (can we get them somewhere else for cheaper like costco? Only got one big box of size 2)

size 2 is going to be too big! when your baby arrives she will either be in newborn or size 1. i would get a box or two of size one, and if she needs MB size someone can run out and get you a box


-Wipes

you will need a ton of these


-Books

people will give these as gifts but i love picking out my own

personally, I would make sure I had 2-3 changing pad covers because changing time can get messy. Same goes for the crib sheets- 3 or 4. I would probably also get the wicker baskets and the wipes. You could get a box of newborn diapers, too.

I wouldn't bother with the car seat protection or the second diaper bag, or even books for that matter because you can get those pretty cheap elsewhere. The tub and bumbo seat won't be used for awhile, so I would wait on those.

I love this thing (instead of the bumbo) - for $5 more, it seems like they'll get much more use out of it. --- AND if your kid has chubby thighs, this won't be an issue like the bumbo!

-Changing Pad Covers (how many?) 2 or 3 They are a necessity. I would also get a big box of chuck pads from a pharmacy. Or wee wee pads from a pet store. They will cut down on the number of times you need to change the covers and IMO are a life saver.
-Sound Sleeper Soothing Audio Machine - don't have I don't think it is a necessity b/c the child can become to reliant on it.
-Car Seat protection for car (worth it??) - did not have - don't think it is really necessary
-Bumbo seat (& play tray?) - didn't have but some moms love it.
-Sleep positioner - not necessary unless your DC has real issues
-A 2nd diaper bag - not necessary - but I would get a small travel pack that you can stick into a regular pocketbook
-Tub side Seat & Storage - Necessary
-Extra Sheets (only got one - how many more?) - 3 - I love the flannel carter's ones.
-Diapers (can we get them somewhere else for cheaper like costco? Only got one big box of size 2) - I would wait to see what your DC likes
-Wipes - for the beginning I just used water on cloths b/c newborns skin is too sensitive.
-Wicker Baskets for closet (got 2 need 2-3 more) - I love my closet baskets
-Books - necessity

-Tub side Seat & Storage I use this every time I give DS a bath, prevents me from having to kneel.
-Extra Sheets (only got one - how many more?) You should have at least 3 sheets for the crib. One on the mattress, one in laundry, one just in case the one in the crib gets spit up on.

My friends and I swear by one called Marfan. Not at BRU but the best thing ever - even I sleep better with it on LOL.

You need some NB and size 1 but I would not buy too much before hand. Also costco only sells certain brands and they are never the ones I use.

-Sound Sleeper Soothing Audio Machine- never used any kind of music or sound for DS
-Car Seat protection for car (worth it??)- it is worth it, but you have 6 months until you would need it
-Bumbo seat (& play tray?)- my DS liked it but he didn't fit into it for very long because of his chubby legs. I would see if you could borrow or get it off of Craigs List

-A 2nd diaper bag- got the two I registered fo and wound uo returning one of them
-Tub side Seat & Storage- not neccesary, but helpful

I always recommend saving the giftcards for things like diapers, formula and wipes.

I also used giftcards to purchase my thankyou notes for gifts that people will buy you after the baby is born.

And things like extra bottles/nipples/pacifiers/burp cloths (you know, all the "basics" that can easily add up).

-Wipes --- this is what i would get ---- you seem to go through so many in the beginning. it was great to have gift cards for diapers, wipes and formula. it adds ups really fast!!!!

-Books - i got a lot as gifts as DS got older, not needed IMO

-Changing Pad Covers (how many?): I have 4 and never ran out. I suggest 3.

-Car Seat protection for car (worth it??): I don't think it's worth it.

-Bumbo seat (& play tray?): I have the Bumbo but not the tray. My DD has chubby thighs but she did sit in it for a while and loved it.

-Sleep positioner: Not necessary. I rolled up baby blankets and put them on either side of DD to make her feel cozy.

-A 2nd diaper bag: Not necessary. Just use the bag you have.

-Tub side Seat & Storage: If this helps your knees, get it!! My knees kill me when giving baths!!

-Extra Sheets (only got one - how many more?): 3 total should be fine.

-Diapers (can we get them somewhere else for cheaper like costco? Only got one big box of size 2): You definitely need size 1 and possibly NB. My DD was 3 weeks early and wore NB diapers for a few weeks. I would get a big box of 1s and see if she needs NB size as well when she arrives.

-Wipes: I would get a few with the plastic holder and then buy about 2-3 boxes of refills.

-Wicker Baskets for closet (got 2 need 2-3 more): Not as necessary as the other things.

-Books: I would pick out books that you would like to read to DD. To me, this is important.

Here's my two cents:
-Changing Pad Covers - i feel like you only really need 2
-Sound Sleeper Soothing Audio Machine - still LOVE this!
-Bumbo seat (& play tray?) - NEVER used it
-Sleep positioner - LOVED this!
-A 2nd diaper bag - never use our 2nd one
-Tub side Seat & Storage - dont have, dont miss
-Extra Sheets (only got one - how many more?) - if anything get a couple of Ultimate Sheet Savers! Changing the actually fitted sheet in a crib is a total PITA!
-Diapers (can we get them somewhere else for cheaper like costco? Only got one big box of size 2) - hold off and see what size you need/brand you like once baby is here
-Wipes - see above
-Books - you may get a lot as gifts

I think you have a lot of great advice so far! I have the city mini and I would definitely get the parent console----I like somewhere to put my water bottle, keys & phone while we are out walking.

I would def get the sleep positioner bc I think that is a necessity for the beginning. Then I would get two changing table covers, make sure I have atleast 3 crib sheets (one on crib, one in wash/drawer, and one kept in package until needed), child tray for jogger because that is def something you will have to buy later, and if you still have extra I would do the bumboo and tray just because I love it! hth

From your list I would get the BeBe Pod or Bumbo and more sheets. I loved the BeBe Pod with Rylan...you will with out a doubt need more sheets.

From your list, what I would get would be:

Changing table pad covers - I have 4 and so worth it. DS has actually gone through 2 in a day on many occasions (mostly early on)

Sheets - I also have 4, same reason. The less often you HAVE to do laundry the better.

2nd diaper bag - I have one stocked that stays in the car always, I never take it out. I have had to use the stuff in it and it was a godsend.

Cooler bag - I have used this almost every day since DS was born.

Get some size 1 diapers and some wipes if you have $$ left over. the regular prices on diapers at BRU is pretty good. The sales are better, but you need them anyway, so why not just get them if you have the GC?

Almost everything else, I would wait until the baby gets here to see what you will really use.
