Re: Have you ever heard of this? - gift registry related
I wouldn't do it but I do not think it is weird. If I did not know what I was having, I would go neutral. I would not want to deal with lots of returns while caring for a newborn. If someone else doesn't mind that, it's their choice. If you want to buy something they will be more likely to keep, pick something that isn't bedding.

I agree about the discount thing. I know BRU sends a 15% off card about a month after your EDD. I didn't even have a shower, but kept adding things to my registry that I knew I wanted the discount on

Re: Have you ever heard of this? - gift registry related
My brother spent about $500 on the girl bedding/accessories for me and I winded up having a boy.
He was sad, but I told him that the $500 credit at BRU is still going strong for me 4 months later

I figure she put it on there so when she knows then someone can buy it for her, or she can get a discount. it's weird, but not THAT weird. Just buy something else.

he would still be gorgeous even in girl bedding.....
I just don't get why people get so offended by another person's registry...

I agree with you -- it would be better to select something more neutral or wait to make those purchases after the baby is born.
agreed.

I don't think I would do it, but I don't think it's that wierd.
Obviously the person who buys it knows there is a chance it's going to be returned... if you don't want your gift returned then don't buy the bedding.

I think it is strange. I would either do gender neutral or nothing at all.
I agree....I find that very BIZARRE to register for BOTH.

You are absolutely right, beacuse who are you to say what is tasteful?
It's THEIR registry and there is always SOMEONE who complains about something on a registry. You created the post because you said so yourself that it is not tasteful to register for boy and girl bedding and someone else said those who want gender specific bedding, they should find out the sex. I find that pretty offensive.
It's a registry, which many people can say is distasteful in and of itself to request gifts for people to buy for them.
In the end, everyone has the option to buy something off the registry or do their own thing, but why make a big deal about someone else's choices.

i don't think i made a big deal at all. it's something i've never seen before, nor something i would do myself. hey - if it's common, so be it.
and yes, i personally would not register this way because i don't think it's in good taste. but we all know that taste is a matter of personal opinion, so if you do things your way and feel good about it, so be it. no need to feel offended by my lousy opinion.
for the record i don't think anyone in this thread said that a registry itself is distasteful
you simply could have responded to my question with "yes, i have seen this before as i have done this myself" the world does not end when people disagree

Re: Have you ever heard of this? - gift registry related
I have never really seen furniture on the registry before - I think it's kind of odd, but not really 'in poor taste'
I have seen two sets of bedding though - Boy and Girl ...........
People return stuff all the time - I'd much rather someone return my gift and get something they will use for themselves or the baby rather than my money being wasted on something they're not crazy about that sits in the attic ....... -
