Yes, when we were 18, and it was the best thing I could have done for our "relationship." Mind you, 14 years later, she'll pass me on the street without acknowledging me (and so will her parents!!). No loss there.

Unfortuantely yes on a few occasions. And while you miss them and the comraderie, it was usually the right decision and the healthy decision for my own self preservation.

YES! I'm in that situation right now, I don't know what to do, I've never done it before!!! 
This girl is so self-absorbed, all she does is talk about herself and her fake non-relationship but never asks me what's going on in my life or how I'm doing... I can't stand her!

yes - and i have. friendships are supposed to add to your life, not detract. it took me a long time to come to grips with the fact that several of my friendships w/ ppl i had known for a long time were not positives in my life. i am no longer friends with several ppl intentionally -- ppl who made me upset a lot and added drama to my life. i have no regrets!
imo this is different than just growing apart from someone. that happens in life, but a "break up" is done intentionally.
