having an issue - need opinions and moral support...(sorry, long)
okay, so last month i had what seemed to be an ovarian cyst - ultrasound was normal, but all the other symptoms fit, so my OB assumed that's what it was.
this month i was doing great. made it past O with barely any pain. then, last thursday, two days post O, the pain came back! not as intense and didn't last as long, but definitely back. and not just in my ovary - it was all over. i am still having the pain on and off.
i am concerned that a) something isn't right down there, and b) that whatever isn't right is interfering with TTC. i've got a few theories about what the problem might be.
called my OB and spoke to the triage nurse. she spoke to the OB, who said that this was just "ovulatory" and i should just medicate with ibuprofen. i was so insulted - just felt completely blown off. i explained my concerns more fully to the nurse, who agreed that i should really speak to the OB face to face. so i have an appt on thursday.
do you guys think i am off base in making the appointment? does it sound like i'm jumping the gun, assuming something is wrong? i feel stupid, but at the same time i feel like something is just not right

I think you did the right thing by making the appointment. If you are feeling pain that is past your O and it is not your typical O pains/cramps then rightfully you should see your doctor.

Listen to your body...if something does not feel right, you should absolutely call a doctor.

I think you did the right thing. I had ovarian cysts and they can cause terrible pain so it's better that they see you before they burst. We are here for you and good luck!!

Don't ever let a doctor, nurse, etc. make you feel that you have no basis for being there and getting checked out...you know your body and it will make you feel better knowing that the dr. saw you and checked you out instead of diagnosing over the phone....good luck and keep us updated..

i know, what is it with diagnosing over the phone?! i would never diagnose one of my patients over the phone who i didn't know extremely well - and this doctor has only seen me ONCE.
if it takes me forever to conceive but i am normal - then so be it. but i just can't see myself sitting on my a$$, thinking there may be a problem, and not doing anything about it...

If she has a bad attitude at your appt and blows off your problem, I would get a new doctor. That's BS!

You are 100% right!! The only way you will be comfortable is being seen and if you don't like the way they handle things or the answer you get.....that's what 2nd opinions are for!!

Re: having an issue - need opinions and moral support...(sorry, long)
you are ABSOLUTELY correct. This is your body and if you sense something is off, go with your instinct. I had a cyst too once the month after i had switched bc pills. I never had probs with that before but one a.m. i had some pain and felt that something was not right (We had BD the nite before). DH was my boyfriend at the time, thought i was nuts. P.S. I went to the doc that same day, she examined me and felt something, sent me for a sono and found a cyst. She had me continue to go for a sono every month to confirm that it had dissolved on its own - which it did.
Put your mind at ease and go to the doctor. Good luck and we're here for you

honestly-- you need to go with your gut and if the only way to get the attention of your doctor, is to go in and have a face to face meeting and an exam, so be it!
Sorry you have to go through this-- and good luck!

when it comes to your health and well being, there is no such thing as "jumping the gun." if you are concerened, you have every right to speak to your doctor about it. it could be nothing, or it could be something. and until you get it checked out, you won't know.
good luck

I think what concerns me the most is that when the objective testing came up normal there was no follow up. I think I would insist, if the symptoms continued, that follow up testing be done.

You did the right thing. Whether this turns out to be something or nothing, it is YOUR right to go to the MD whenever you are concered about a pain or anything that just isn't right. If they give you attitude at the appointment consider finding a new MD.
