Head Banging in an almost 2-year-old
My DS is 22 months and had just started banging his forehead against the floor, usually once or twice. He does it when he gets frustrated or angry. He doesn't have many words yet so I'm thinking this may be part of it but also wonder if it's the dreaded terrible two's coming my way?
I'm at a loss as to what to do? I feel like crying when I see him bang his little head against the floor. I'm in the neuro field so any head injuries really frighten me.
I don't know whether to try to stop him or ignore. It's been 3 days now and I've tried both tactics but neither is working. Help.

DD2 did this. It's meant to get your attention and to express frustration.
Totally normal. Your DS won't do it hard enough to really hurt himself. Just keep ignoring it. If DD kept it up I would say in like a totally bored voice, "Are you done doing that yet? Because when you're done we can <some activity>" It usually worked.

My DD is 16 months and has been doing this. Whenever she doesn't get her way, she will bang her head on anything or throw herself on the floor no matter where she is.
Every time she does it, she starts to cry b/c she hurt herself. I'm hoping she learns her lesson soon and stops.
Just this morning I went to pick her up out of the crib and she threw herself back and smacked her head on the back of the crib.

Dd is 15 months old and does this. She falls to the ground and bangs her forehead or the back of her head. I try to ignore it bit sometimes she bangs it so hard. Solve does it when she's not getting what she wants. She's not talking yet so I tthink that's why.
I know I feel horrible when she does it.
