Head shape question
for my friend. She was wondering if anyone had a DC that needed to wear a helmet because of a flat head(back of the head). She's only 3 months and the nuerologist told her she should have her DC wear a helmet all day starting now to make sure her head becomes shaped more round.
IMO it's not that noticable or bad. Does anyone have any experiences?
TIA

Re: Head shape question
I don't have any experience with the helmet, but I can say that DS started getting flat on one side because for a few months he was primarily looking to the left.
Once he got better control of his head, it rounded out on it's own. Good luck to your friend's DD.

Re: Head shape question
My DS loved to look at our monitor light that was on one side of his crib. By the time I realized his head was getting flat on that one side, I moved the monitor and he still looked the same way (not looking at the monitor) - his head tended to fall that way since it had already flattened a bit.
I know babies should be "back to sleep" but I corrected it by placing him on his side for naps and at night. He would end up on his back, but his head eventually shaped beautifully.
We had discussed the helmet too, my brother is a prosthetist/orthotist - it was his recommendation, but he gave me an info packet on head massage, and altering sleep patterns. IT WORKED! We never did the helmet thing.
