we are 1099 independent contractors
so we pay the full amount ourselves
the cheapest I could find was $800 
I haven't bought the plan yet- I bought a short term plan for $300 a month while we figure out what we want to do (so we didn't have a laspe in coverage)

I think so. It sounds like a plan that he can put into action...and as long as a lot of people sign up, premiums will be low.

i hate to sound pessimistic, but no - too many conflicting interest groups, lobbyists, not happening anytime soon.

I don't think so. For a family of 4, we are paying just shy of $1700/month for health insurance (we are self-employed).
If we can actually grow our business a little...then we will be even more screwed up, because we could potentially make more than $250K...so it hardly seems worth it to try to get more business at this point

the better plans were $1100 per month
