healthy finger foods - 10 month old
My DD isn't eating well when it comes to foods I feed her like jarred baby food. She prefers things she can feed herself, but so far all those things are "snacks" a.k.a. puffs and american cheese. Sometimes she's okay if I have her hold my hand while I feed her, but tonight she refused. She took the spoon out of my hand but then just looked at it. A lot of mess was made, but not much food was eaten. I don't like fried foods (such as chicken nugets), and haven't consulted with the doctor yet on this. Anyone have similar experience and what did you do/feed the baby?
TIA!

I used to dice a lot of soft things for DD, like sweet potato, avocado, canned fruit with no added sugar, hard boiled egg (if your ped okay's it). You can try tofu.

DS (11 months) hasn't taken to many finger foods yet. He will eat and LOVES puffs/cheerios/biter biscuits, etc. He will also eat pancakes, waffles (I buy the mini Van ones-all natural), avacado, yogurt melts and cheese. I've tried scrambled eggs but he hated them.

Is it bad that I give my 9 month DS everything we eat? I give jarred foods, but after a few spoonfuls he refuses it. Pasta with sauce, meatballs, soup, blueberries, strawberries, bananas, apples, diced fruit cups, jello, cheese, puffs, cheerios, pretzels, pizza, string beans, peas, carrots, yogurt, bagels, chicken, chicken nuggets, french fries, steak, spinanch, potatoes, etc....cut up small of course.

Re: healthy finger foods - 10 month old
I think of puffs as a snack food, I need something for when she won't eat dinner. Something with protien would probably be best?
I have no idea if she can do eggs yet, I'll ask this week at my next appointment. I have no idea about those that give a variety... I gave her a small taste (not even a spoonful) of some L/F ice cream I was eating the other day (cookies and cream flavor) and I fet guilty... she really liked it though, but who wouldn't? If eggs are a go - I'm going for it. I can't imagine how she'll eat them herself, but I guess I can scramble them and she can pick at it.

Re: healthy finger foods - 10 month old
Charlotte is just over 9m...our Dr gave us the go ahead to feed her whatever we eat with the exception of honey, nuts & shellfish.
She eats: sweet potato fries, scrambled eggs, tofu, avocado, waffles, bagel with cream cheese, mozzarella-asiago-swiss-cheddar cheeses, pear, banana, plum, peaches (frozen and fresh - she sucks on the frozen ones...it's good for teething), baby carrots (again, frozen for teething but she has 8 teeth so she nibbles too), butternut squash. Basically anything we eat, she gets in pea-sized portions. In addition to the finger food I feed her yogurt and pureed fruits & veggies...plus some stage 3 from Earth's Best.
The cheerios, puffs, etc are just filler snacks for her.

This is cool, but you have to tell me, how does she eat a bagel with cream cheese? Do you scoop out the middle and put the cream cheese on the soft part? DD only has 2 teeth, so I'm afraid she'd choke. I'll try avacado and eggs if the doc gives his blessing. Overall I've been steering clear of any tropical fruits or veggies - I have a bad allergy to mango and have been afraid if she has it she can't tell me she's having a hard time breathing like I do when I eat it. Gosh we eat so bad lately, I couldn't imagine giving her what we eat. I have to start cooking again. Just have NO time.

Re: healthy finger foods - 10 month old
DD(10 months) has 2 teeth and eats everything including bagels. Usually cinnamon raisin with nothing on it. She does fine. She also likes to feed herself. She eats whatever we eat, grilled chicken, broccoli, carrots, steak, pork chops, pasta(tortellini, ravioli), pancakes, waffles, all fruits and veggies diced up. You name she eats it. Here is an idea, on the weekend, grill a bunch of chicken and other meats, make some sweet potato and other veggies and have them ready for the week. Then it is a no brainer.
