healthy sleep habits, happy child

Wow! I had heard about this book here and there and thought I'd give it a read. DS's naps were so different everyday and that meant some nights were great and some not so great. I picked up this book and so far so good! The crying at naptime is getting shorter and shorter (down to 5-10 mins) and really very little or no crying at bedtime. I actually put him down and he goes to sleep on his own!!! I am amazed! I just have a question for moms who've used Dr. Weissbluth's methods: Can you ever get our of the house????!!!! I understand his point about how important and necessary sleep is, but seriously, how do you ever leave?

THanks for the recommendation on the book and tia for answering my question!

Re: healthy sleep habits, happy child

I'll be honest, but when we first implemented "the plan", no, I never got out of the house to do anything more than walks in the neighborhood until after the 2nd nap.

To me it was totally worth it though considering at 9 months we were still dealing with night wakings. However, I didn't rearrange important things like special occassions and doctor's appointments to go around her schedule.

Now, at 14 months, I'll mess with her schedule a little more to get more done during the day.

Glad to hear it is still working for you. I also think this will all be worth it, but stressing about a family party today and appointments next week. We'll see how it goes!

I'm reading it but find it to be difficult to follow and to be honest, it makes me feel like crap for being a working mom.
