Heartburn- any natural remedies or what can we take?

The last few days I have gotten heartburn after I eat. Doesn't seem to matter what it is. I haven't had a chance to call the doctor yet but I was wondering what we are allowed to take or if there are any natural remedies to help? Thanks! Chat Icon

My dr. told me I can take anything over the counter expect Pepto. Tums didn't work for me, so I went with Mylanta and now a bottle comes with me everywhere I go! It has been a life saver.

Papaya Enzymes...work GREAT! A Health food store, whole foods or maybe even trader Joe's should have them.

I actually have those... but when my friend was pregnant her dr told her not to take that so I haven't touched them!

I lived on tums, but the key was to take them before I ate not after...

I had the same problem the last 3 months of pregnancy. A warm cup of milk with a tablespoon of honey in it worked for me. Feel better!

Tums and Mylanta are both safe to take.

I am lucky I am allowed to take my reflux medication. It does nont always work though. Lately in the middle of the night i have to eat a few tums or a gaviscon.

Earth Mama Angel Baby makes an awesome tea for heartburn! All my friends swear by it! I haven't had heartburn, but drank their morning sickness tea in the first trimester and loved it!

Edited to add the link right to the tea: Heartburn Tea

They also sell this in lots of stores near me so I don't have to order online but have in the past.

Re: Heartburn- any natural remedies or what can we take?

I had such horrible heartburn that I had acupuncture done because I couldn't take it anymore! That has helped alot. I also eat very plain and bland food. I cannot tolerate sauce or anything acidic. Chewing gum after meals also helps.

Dr. H told me that I can take Zantac, since Tums or Mylanta haven't helped.
