Heartburn remedies

I need some good remedies for heartburn. Preferably not an Rx. I'm sick of my throat being in fire all day (and night). And, go.

Heartburn remedies

I've had the worst heartburn all pregnancy so I feel your pain!! Tums definitely helps me- I've gone through 4 bottles this pregnancy. I also find a glass of milk helps. Eat slowly and don't lay down until at least an hour or two AFTER you eat. I've been trying to eat very bland foods (although my PB&J sandwich gave me heartburn yesterday).

Heartburn remedies

Tums didn't work at all for me! I take the generic version of Pepcid and is works wonders!! I was taking it once a day at night but have recently started taking it 2x a day because its getting worse. My Dr also said milk of magnesium but I never tried it.

Heartburn remedies

zantac - started with the 75 then went to 150. It's OTC. Pack some in your hospital bag too. It took about 2 weeks of weaning off the zantac PP for the hb to go away.

Re: Heartburn remedies

I eat mints all day long, either altoids or lifesavers. The only thing that seems to help slightly with my heartburn.

Tums and Pepcid have done very little for me. I asked my OB yesterday and she said those might work for a few minutes, but I can take Zantac 75 before lunch and before dinner and that it's perfectly safe for the baby. I'm the kind of person who doesn't like to take anything at all, but when the heartburn gets bad, I need something.

Heartburn remedies

Dr said tums work fast but only last about 15 mins. Told me the soft chews will be faster. Can take the regular Pepcid. I try not to eat at least an hour before I lay down

Good luck!

With DD, I lived on mint chip ice cream. The mint was soothing, and I guess it also helped that it was a milk product. Neither one of those fixes help this time. Chat Icon

I was told Tums as a no no. But I'm an acid reflux sufferer even before getting a bfp. Things to avoid: spicy food including pungent spices like garlic and rosemary, no acidic foods, no caffeine. Eat at least three hours before bed, and elevate yourself in bed as much as possible. I take Pepcid - it's not amazing, but it helps!!

I know you said heartburn- all of the above will work with heartburn relief too!

Ive never tried pepcid. There are some days where all I could stomach was a vanilla milkshake. Milk products are very soothing.

Re: Heartburn remedies

Tums smoothies during the day. I always take at least 2 at a time. My OB said they are good to take, especially because they have calcium in them.

After dinner I take 1 Zantac 150, so that by bedtime I (hopefully) have no issues.

I also started drinking a big glass of milk before bed.

This. I lived off tums and milk when I was pregnant.

Re: Heartburn remedies

Pineapple or a few shots of red cider vinegar (mix with honey if u cannot take it). Try this every day. Did not work for me but my prenatal yoga teacher always recommends it!
