HELP! Major Separation Anxiety
DD is 13 months old and is starting to have major separation anxiety when DH drops her off at daycare. It starts when he puts her in the car and becomes hysterical as soon as she sees the front door. Whenever I call over there to see how's she doing during the day, she's always happy and playing with the other kids, but lately drop off has been a nightmare!
Its so bad that even if we go tp put her in the carseat just to go out for some errands, she loses it!
I dont know what to do - any suggestions on how for us all to cope?

Re: HELP! Major Separation Anxiety
we feel your pain! for us though, it doesnt start until we put him down in his classroom...
is your DC walking? i let DS walk into his room so that I dont have to put him down, makes it easier. I also kiss him goodbye before we walk into the room.
i let him play and try to stay quiet while im getting his stuff ready for his day in the room and then once he is doing his thing, I do not say goodbye again - just that last kiss before we enter the room and i sneak out.
i also find that having his lovey available helps. if he does cry when we leave (about 80% of the time now) his teacher gives it to him and she scoops him up until we are gone. helps!!!
ive been told it wont last forever but we are going on 2+ months he always melts down when his teacher leaves the room or leaves for the day

Re: HELP! Major Separation Anxiety
DD is not walking on her own, but will do it if she's holding on to your hands. Maybe that will help. We'll give it a try...can hurt!
I called about 10 minutes after DH left her at daycare, and she was stilll crying in the background.
She doesnt have a "lovey" or anything like that. Maybe we should give her one of her stuffed animals from home...that may help too.
anyone else have any "tricks"...
