Gymnastics

Purely because digging out a bathing suit would be a minor hassle Chat Icon

help me decide...Birthday party

My son is in Pre-K and I know he and friends would probably love the opportunity to go swimming in January. I would pick swimming.

Although I'd be fine with either - since my 5 year old likes to swim and gymnastics - I would choose gymnastics.

A lot of kids can't swim so it would be a lot more work for their parents to go to a pool party.

Re: help me decide...Birthday party

Swimming in January for sure. Even those that can't swim would have fun and I'm assuming there would be a lifeguard there as well as fun flotation devices.

We live in FL and many 5 year olds here can't swim or if they can, not that well. It's to be expected at that age. Ask the venue about non-swimmers to get the logistics.

Agree. Went to 2 parties at Saf T Swim this year and DD can't swim. We just brought her puddle jumper. Others brought life vests, etc
The place will provide swimmies but I don't trust those at all so I just brought her puddle jumper and she had a blast.
You don't have to know how to swim to go to these pool parties.

I did a January pool party at Safe-t-swim around that age and 100% of the kids we invited, attended. They had so much fun they actually asked me to throw the same party every January after that. It was such a nice treat for them to get to spend the afternoon swimming in the middle of winter!

We went to a winter pool party a few years back at safety swim. They kept the kids in the shallow area, several instructors in the water. They tested every child before they got in. If they couldn't do certain things they got a bubble they use for lessons. Kids seemed safe and happy to be swimming. They played games with the group.

You could probably get some inexpensive favors right now, like a pool towel, boogie board, etc. since some places still have Summer stock they are trying to get rid of!

Happy I could help!
It was actually snowing that day and I was worried some people wouldn't show up but they still all did! One tip I would offer is to bring a blow dryer and tell other moms (especially of girls) to bring one also. That way no one leaves with wet hair.

I bought kick boards a few weeks ago from target....but I am concerned bc every kid doesn't have a pool ( I can return them)

have you seen any summer stock left anywhere?

Re: help me decide...Birthday party update

I wanted to update because I always search info on here and love when there are updates...

We went with a pool party

most kids were 4 or 5 with a few younger kids

They had a BLAST!!!

I was nervous..they would be wild or crazy, that moms would be not thrilled but alll the feed back was great!

Some moms said their kids had their bathing suits on at 7 am Chat Icon

Sat t swim was good...everything went smooth and it was reasonable for the amount of kids we had.
