Help me, please.. I need Daycare for my 21 month old with Cerebral Palsy.

My DD is 21 months old and diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy (CP). I am currently in contract for a house in North Bellmore and I am at my wits end Chat Icon Chat Icon trying to find a special needs day care for her. She does not sit or walk and has feeding difficulties. My DH and I both work full time and currently have a babysitter that comes to us in Queens, to watch her while we work. However, once we move my babysitter will no longer be able to watch her so I need to locate a Day Care the can meet her needs. I am pretty resourceful but there is hardly any places/info out there on a special needs day care. Maybe there is a special term for this service that I am not aware of?

Please give me any info or advice. Will it just be easier to try to locate a nanny/babysitter?

TIA

Toddler Time in Seaford might be a good place to check out, since they are housed in the same building as Little Village, a special ed preschool.

Not sure where you work, but I think ACDS in Plainview also has daycare.

Are you getting EI services? If not, and your DD is eligible, you might be able to get her into a special ed preschool program and combine that with daycare at one of the schools.

I would get in touch with UCP in Roosevelt. They aren't too far from North Bellmore.

The school day would be covered through EI.

little village and ACDS both have daycares in their facilities which are also schools for special needs children... ACDS & Little village also take children as young as 2 years old into their EI programs for school too.

Thanks for the suggestions. Little Village will be getting back to me to explore if DD is appropriate for their school and Day Care at the facility on site (my fingers are crossed). They were extremely helpful. I will also contact ACDS and UCP.
