help me teach my almost 1 yr old to not just stand up in her crib, but to go back to sleep!!

for three mornings so far, dd (who is a great sleeper and will go back to sleep if she rolls around during the night), will roll, wake herself up a little and then stand up.....she can sit back down (and does) but doesn't get that even when she is soooo tired, she could really just lay down and go to sleep....instead she walks around the perimeter of the crib, sits here and there, and eventually just cries...if i go in and hold her, she is out in a matter of secs (I should add she puts herself down at night but once she sees the daylight from me coming in, unless I hold her, its over....and her day is not the same...) I know I started the bad habit of holding her but its also not fair to dd#1 if she screams waking up dd#1 too at such an early hr....uggh....please help! thanks!

I would just leave her alone and let her figure it out. If you keep going in she's never learn to just lay back down and fall asleep.

my dd does the same thing. I would pick her up as well. I was talking to one of my mommy friends and she said try not to pick her up. She said go in give her the binky lay her down rub her back and then walk out. If she cries go back and repeat.
I have been doing this and it's definitely helped.
Hope that helps.

I remember that phase! It took DS a couple weeks to figure out that he could lie down. There wasn't much I could do, but let him figure it out for himself. There were a few instances where I caught him sleeping standing up against the bars and then I went into his room to put him down.
