help, what do I pay a babysitter?
Okay, even though I have three dc's my dh and I believe it or not have never used a babysitter (outside of family). I'm going to start using my cousins friends dd (she is 16) for a few hours here and there to finally be able to get some time with my dh. The problem, she and her mom has said oh, give whatever you want we consider you family. Family or not, I still have to pay her and have no idea what the going rate is....any help? 5, 7 10 an hour...not sure????

We pay our neighbor $7/hr. I know she charges more if there are multipke kids.

The woman who watches my friends babies down here gets 10.00 an hour, 3 hour minimum.

I would ask her what she thinks is reasonable. What I've often seen is they will undervalue themselves.
For a daycare teacher, the rate is anywhere from $9-11/hour.
I pay my nephew $5-7/hour.

I pay college girls $12 an hour which, is pretty much the going rate. A high school kid, I would probably pay $8 an hour.

I actually pay a flat rate $40 for 2 boys 2 yrs and 10 months. SO if I go out at 5pm and come home at 9pm or 1pm - still $40. I use her probably once a weekend and the kids go to bed at 8pm so it is pretty easy. She is a sr in high school.
