Help with packing lunch for a picky eater with food allergies (allergic to milk).
Can anyone help me with some lunch suggestions. DD is a bit picky. I have to pack lunch for her once a week. I am at a loss.
It used to be so easy before she got her food allergies - of course she isn't allergic to peanuts and loves peanut butter but we are a peanut free preschool.
I figure I will definitely pack lots of fruit as she LOVES fruit -but I'm having trouble with what else to give her.
She often has peanut butter and then say melon and blueberries or apples, and carrots. She isn't allergic to soy BUT all the soy butters we tried with her seem to give her facial rashes so they are out.
She is allergic to Milk, strawberries, oranges, shellfish and chocolate.
She doesn't like pasta and isn't a big sandwich eater. I would give her drumsticks but she has those for dinner. I make her cheeseless pizza (tomato sauce, veggies and salami) but she won't eat it cold. She rarely eats soup.
Help I'm at a total loss.

 I could try that - but the last time I brought them cold she really didn't eat them. Most things I would pack like cheese and turkey rolls etc all have milk. Every time I try to come up with something it seems to have milk, butter or something dairy in it. Doesn't help that she is a picky eater (she eats healthy - but it is like she LOVES eggs and melon one day - but won't eat it the next - but then she loves peppers and chicken another - but won't eat it another day - so I'm constantly on my toes.)

My DS is peanut allergic so I had to find an alternative for DH & DD. We really like sunflower butter, my cousin and her husband prefer almond butter to peanut butter.

yes - she just has this thing about eating sandwiches together (she is a bit sensory). She will eat the meat out of the sandwich etc. But then she won't always eat the bread.
We aren't sure if she has problems with coconut (she seems to have several allergies so we are still on somewhat of an elimination). It was so much easier when she could have dairy. It seems to be in so many things.
I haven't tried sunflower butters. She gets rashes from soynut butters but isn't allergic to soy. Allergist didn't want her on almond products not sure why b.c she can have peanut butter. She can't bring any almond items either no peanut or tree nut products. She has several children with treenut and peanut allergies in her class.
Thank you I will check out some of those suggestions.

did you try sunflower seed butter? I heard that kids w/ nut allergies aren't allergic to sunflower seeds b/c they aren't a nut? obviously you'd have to check /w the school & see if your DD likes to eat it.
We are going to do pieces of chicken cut up with edamame pods (DD loves these), fruit...
What about soup? DD loves chicken soup- you can put it in one of those wide-neck thermoses.

what about a lunchable? the meat with the cheese and cracker packs?

Have you tried the Tofutti cream cheese? I would try the sunflower butter also. Bagels, pitas, or crackers with hummus. Daiya brand shredded cheese (i buy at whole foods) is good for pizzas btw and it melts. Jelly sandwiches. There's also cheese slices I buy at whole foods called vegan slices. Can she eat soy yogurt? (silk brand or trader joes). pancakes or waffles, oatmeal in a thermos, hard boiled eggs?

She loves hard boil eggs but isn't a good breakfast eater so we gives her eggs for breakfast but we could definitely do a hard boil egg, carrots and fruit.

Unfortunately she is allergic to milk so we can't do the lunchables. Part of our issue is that she is picky but the largest is that we are really limited with her allergies - they also think she has a possible preservative allergy so we are trying to avoid foods that are more processed when we can.

Yes, the Daiya cheese is completely dairy free. I buy it at Wegmans or Whole Foods. It's not bad...it melts and stretches and my kids both love it...even my DD who isn't allergic and knows what REAL cheese tastes like.  I've actually found a few pizzerias in NJ/PA that have Daiya cheese as an option and my DS can order pizza! 
Tofutti makes dairy free cream cheese and sour cream. It's much easier to find than the sliced or shredded cheeses. Stop and Shop usually has it...sometimes it's in the organic section. I agree about the cheese slices though. They are NASTY!
Just thought of another idea...Road's End Organics makes 123s and Chreeze. It's like a kraft style mac and cheese, but dairy free. You could send it in a thermos if she likes it. Also my DS loves the cereal bars from Enjoy Life Foods. Those would be good with some fruit or something. The Kashi TLC cereal bars are the only other cereal bars I have found to be dairy free, but they contain sesame and my DS is allergic to that too.

Thank you!!! I looked today and saw tofutti ice cream (unfortunately it had chocolate in it and she is allergic to chocolate but they had some other options in the organic area) I didn't see the cream cheese or sour cream. I will check when I go back. I finally found a yummy banana soy pudding for DD at our local organic store but they never had it anymore they only have the chocolate ones at Stop and Shop. I never thought to ask at a pizzeria - we only found out about her allergy back in July - she was on a strict elimination diet since Feb and so she got kind of picky during that time - she used to eat so many more things - LOVED stir fry, chicken and broccoli etc. Now I feel like I have a hard time feeding her. She also says her tummy hurts all the time so I never know either. I found some cereal bars today in their organic section that have apple filling. So many things have strawberries in it or citrus (DD is allergic to oranges so I have to be careful with berries and citrus b.c of strawberries or oranges that could be in it). And the best is also that she is allergic to chocolate so anything I find that sounds good that has soy (ice cream etc) tends to have cocoa or chocolate.

DS is also dairy free - I was shocked at how many things had dairy in them. Hot dogs even - who knew?!
I agree with the daiya cheese for pizza - I bring a bag to our local pizzeria and they make a personal pie for him with it. And sunflower butter rocks. We buy it at trader joes.
I also make my own turkey meatballs (haven't found a frozen that doesn't have cheese in it).
Also Amy's makes a frozen nondairy mac and cheese.
Have you heard of PAK - protect allergic kids? Lots of great advice there. Good luck!

No I'm still working on learning things. She woke up in Feb covered in hives and we had her on a strict elimination diet for months so we are only now starting to work back in normal foods. The problem is that we aren't sure if she also has a preservative allergy so that makes it even harder.
I haven't seen dayia cheese anywhere so I will look if they have a site and carry it somewhere near me. I used to make a good turkey meatball but it had parmesean cheese and the soy one I found made it taste bad. She didn't like them without it. I will definitely check out Amy's.
I'm lucky that she loves blueberries, melons (cantalope, watermelon etc), peaches and apples so that has made it easier this summer but will be harder once the fresh fruit is in less good supply this winter.

Hebrew National's are kosher so there is no dairy in the them. You can look for Kosher or Parve prepared foods because if it is meat based there won't be any diary.
My DD also has dairy and egg allergies and I plan on making mini meat balls (the size of nickel, but round) and maybe some pasta with sauce.

I use ground turkey not turkey breast, one egg, I saute some mushrooms and carrots and then puree it, breadcrumbs, clove or two of fresh garlic, salt and pepper. I either bake them and then add to the sauce or I put them raw in the sauce so they cook in there. I use the Barilla plus pasta. It is milk free.

Our allergist and the pediatrician both said you can't trust the kosher or parve stuff without reading the label. They clean the machines enough so that there's no dairy for Jewish law, but it doesn't mean they clean it enough to guarantee no cross contamination. They both keep kosher so I figured they know what they are talking about.
Also, we were told absolutely no cold cuts or hot dogs at all due to the high risk of cross contamination since the cheeses are made in the same factory and possibly cut on the same machines by mistake at the deli.

I guess it depends on the allergist. DD doesn't have a severe milk allergy. We are told that cold cuts are fine. I haven't tried deli ones though - we get the applewood farms ones that are casein free and prepackaged. They also make casein free hot dogs. Then again he wasn't as concerned with things for DD where they use milk in the plant etc.
My friend's son has a severe milk allergy (anaphylaxis reaction to milk) I know that she gives her child cold cuts b.c it was one thing she recommended for DD.

We buy applegate farms too (they just started selling it in BJs!) and the great organic hot dogs.
