Helping Lauren (Leighla) (updated 8/6 with different ways to help)
Ok, we all know Lauren is going through something incredibly difficult right now...so I think it's time for LIF to come together to do what we do best in times of crisis....let's help make this a teensy bit easier for her.
There are a few different options if you want to help.
1. I'm personally collecting gift cards/donations or anything else anyone is willing to donate for her.
Some of the things being donated are gift certificates/gift cards for:
(keeping in mind Lauren lives in New Jersey, so Long Island establishments might not work)
chain restaurants
Shop Rite
Stop and Shop
Target
American Express or Visa gift cards
Or, if you'd to send a card to let her know you're thinking about her, I'll pass that along as well.
I also plan on making a donation to standup2cancer.org in Scott's name, so if you would like to be a part of that, you can send me money and I'll include you.
I can FM my address to anyone who wants to donate....just let me know you're interested. I'm hoping to get that sent out to her next week.
2. There is an active PayPal account that Lauren can access directly if you would prefer to donate directly to her.

Having just gone through this with my mom... her wakes, funeral, and lunch after the funeral and related expenses cost $25K+ 
So I prefer to send money. Let me know if I should put it in her paypal account or send a check.
ETA: is this paypal still active?

I just wanted to add...before we send $$$..at one point I believe it was Lauren's wishes to not send money...that they (meaning her and her family) were OK...but if we wanted to to donate to cancer research.
I know when my sisters DH passed that was what her wishes were too. So to me it would be important to find out what Lauren's wishes are.
Maybe if we collect $$$ we can make one group donation?

I think people will all come together to help and I think because the outpouring is going to be HUGE for her, we should wait till we know more of her needs before bombarding her with too much. A few gift cards for places mentioned above now might help, but too many might become more then needed and end up wasted.
I would like to send $$ and hope that maybe a close friend of her's or Lauren, or LIF can let us know how she would most like that to be set up...either an account, or direct or to research or maybe something in Logan's name for his future.

There are some great ideas being thrown around here....but I'm still going to go with my original plan. I don't know what Lauren would prefer right now....but I'd rather not bother her with that at the moment. I think she's got a lot going on and doesn't need to worry about that right now.
I love the idea of the donation....but I was thinking more along the lines of making her life as easy as possible right now, you know? I think a donation in the future is a definite. Maybe someone can set up a PayPal account for that once things settle a little.
So if you would like to get something to her, I'm still willing to collect it and get it to her. If you FM me, I can send you my address.

It might be easiest if we can donate all to one place and then someone takes the money and gets her one huge American Express card, so she can just keep using the balance wherever she goes.

I am not Lauren but I would think deliveries in this hectic time would be best.
I am thinking premade meals (like super supper used to do), fruit/food baskets (DH and I ate out of a food basket for 2 days with FIL passed, we had no energy to go to the store or cook), grocery deliveries (like peapod type).
