I am not Lauren but I would think deliveries in this hectic time would be best.
I am thinking premade meals (like super supper used to do), fruit/food baskets (DH and I ate out of a food basket for 2 days with FIL passed, we had no energy to go to the store or cook), grocery deliveries (like peapod type).
We checked and Peapod doesn't deliver to her area. And since she's in NJ, getting meals to her can be tricky from LI. I'm willing to make the trip to bring it to her, but I'm not sure how well the food would travel.

I know everyone would like to do something but I think that you should really find out what she really needs.
This is coming from someone who had to deal with 2 deaths in 7 months...
So many people sent food we ended up throwing away alot of it.
I am sure the family will be letting their friends and family know where you can send a donation on Scott's behalf.
Remember this just happened today, give the family a day or so to get everything in order....
Again,just my opinion....

ITA. I know we all feel helpless and we want to do something, but right now Lauren has her family with her and she is trying to get through minute by minute. I know she would appreciate all the thoughts and gifts, but after the arrangements are made, I think a monetary donation would be the most helpful. She can use it to buy things for herself and Logan, pay for the cost of the funeral, whatever she needs it for.
Everyone's intentions are all good and well-meaning, and I'm sure she will appreciate them all if we give her a few days.

I agree. A monetary donation is the best option. It will allow her to get whatever it may be that they need. I am more than positive that her family and IRL friends will be providing tons of food. I wouldn't even ask her what it is that she needs, just send the collection to her home.
If someone is setting up a paypal account, please let me know. I would like to contribute $

I totally agree. If anyone who knows her personally, knows where in Jersey she is, we can go from there with any local restaurants, etc, like we ahve done in the past.

I just read the request for donations to standuptocancer.org on parenting.
I don't know Lauren and had no idea they were going through this until today.
Read her blog and I was really touched by her story, writing and strength. I was very emotional here at my desk.
I would like to make a donation but don't know their last name.

Thank you for coordinating this and sending the info out.
I agree about the food not being the best option unless it's someone who knows her directly and has discussed it with her - no one else (I should say certainly not me) will know her schedule or what she feels like eating. I will use the Paypal so she can use that as she likes, either with a donation, food, money for her son, things she needs, etc.
