ETA: as for the christening, i would ask your dad what he would like you to do (if you can ). it can always be rescheduled if he really wants to be there - but he may tell you to have it without him and you can all celebrate later on.
if you can't ask him, i would reschedule. as far as i know there is no age limit for christenings.
I'm so sorry you're going through this! Many prayers for your father's speedy recovery. I do know a few people who have had strokes and the recovery varies greatly. Most, however, recovered wonderfully with time and rehabilitation.

I would talk to the church and the place you were having the party/catering (if you are) and see about rescheduling.
only your dr. will be able to predict his recovery rate...it is very subjective and varies...it depends on where in the brain it occured...so many things.
