I went to see what it was like and The thing that hit me right away was how religious everything was., literally everywhere I turned was a framed psalm/ bible quote or cross or religious book. It made me uncomfortable.
It's a Christian store. You probably shouldn't go if it makes you uncomfortable.[/QUOT
It's not a Christian store, it's a store owned by Christians. Big difference. If it was advertised as a Christian store I obv wouldn't have been surprised. I don't walk into chick-Fil-a and expect to see Psamls everywhere. To each their own, but I was surprised that a store opening in Long Island advertised as a hobby and craft store had such an obvious religious presence IN the store itself.

Sounds like a store that belongs in the South.
I totally felt like I was transplanted in Arkansas. Even when I checked out the cashier made a comment about how I should thank " the big guy" for the great sale prices
That's odd!. Do you have to be a Christian to work there?

Walked in, walked right out. Felt out of place! I live in commack and felt like I was down south!
Plus, their hours are Monday thru Saturday, closed Sunday sou families could worship and be together. But then they had another sign that said open on July fourth. You can't go ask old school America then be open on independence day selling crap made in China.
Won't spend my money there.

It's so funny how people don't realize that Hobby Lobby covered almost all types of birth control, except for the few that might cause an abortion. Which is their right as a private company. Hobby Lobby even covered Condoms!!! I don't know about you, but my job does not cover condoms! When I think of all the money I could've saved over the years!!!
What types of birth control might cause an abortion?

The abortion pill for one, so not really birth control, and their were one or two others when I researched it when this case was happening because I wanted to inform myself about what they were really denying. I forgot the other types of bc, but I do remember the chances of them causing an abortion were like minuscule. But again, their choice. But they were covering all traditional bc, like the regular bc pill, condoms, diaphragms, spermicidal creams, I believe the shot, etc...but I would really have to look up the case again, because the details are fuzzy at this point!

No, it kind of is the same thing. The owners are Christian, so yes, the store is Christian because it is THEIR choice, which is also their RIGHT, to have it that way. I also think that nobody at this point is surprised that Hobby Lobby is like that. Again, if you dislike people's religions so much, don't go. I've never been to a Hobby Lobby, but I assume you could go to Michael's, Joannes or AC Moore and not be offended.

My guess would be IUD's. There is some debate as to how exactly they prevent pregnancy... If the sperm and egg are able to meet but unable to implant.
Then obviously I would think the Plan B pills.

No, it is COMPLETELY not the same thing!
It is mingling the owner's personal religious beliefs into the place of business. Sure, it's their right, but it isn't something I would expect or feel comfortable with either. So yeah, my right to not shop there. I'm with mbg on this. Thanks for this post because I forgot about the court case and will not waste my time on money on such a business.

Ummmm,,, relax, when did I say I hated Christianity? And since when does the store owners religion make a store that religion???? All I said was that I was surprised and uncomfortable about the obvious show of religion in a SECULAR store. Of course it's their choice but it's not a Christian store that is billed as selling Religous artifacts, it's a hobby store. Just like it's my choice not to shop there so yes I will continue to shop at michaels.
