I wouldn't do it before I had kids b/c foremost I would feel stupid having my pic up amongst a ton of pics of kids. I honestly don't want my photo hanging on aunt bessie's photo clothes line or whatever in between a baby in a basket of ornaments and some toddler leaning up against a prop sleigh.
Also, with kids it is a positive progression thing- aww look how big little jimmy got blah blah. With adults it would be more like- oh looks like jane never lost the baby weight or wow jack is getting SO grey. No thanks.

For those who think its strange/odd/weird, etc., did you send out photo save the dates for your wedding? or a photo thank you card? How is that different?
Im not trying to be mean or nasty, just trying to wrap my head around why people think a photo of a couple is strange/odd/weird...

My very hot older friends(both are 65) send us a photo card every year from an exotic location, usually in their bathing suits. I love it!
But seriously, they are extremely hot for their ages. I don't think I would enjoy it if my parents did this.

We usually do this but with our dogs in it. I've never sent one of just us. But I don't think there's anything wrong with it. Whats the difference if it's an adult or child on the card?! I don't get it.
I don't get it either.
Over the years, I have read so many threads about how thank you cards are a waste, photo cards should only have kids or animals, holiday letters are akin to committing a crime, it makes me wonder why people bother at all. Maybe it's me, but I can't attach any negative feeling to anyone that takes time to send me a greeting.

Only year we did a picture before we had kids was when we moved. We had a picture of us infront of the house with a sold sign.

Personally, I'd rather have pictures of a couple than their dogs.
It's like finding a way to show off without showing off, so it's kids or a dog? No, dude, I am awesome, look at a pic of meeeee!

Putting a pic of your kid is Narcissistic too if you think putting a picture of just yourself is so either way, it 's an extension of the couple.

i get a card from my cousin and her husband. each year has a dif movie theme. they superimpose their faces into pics from movies.
do you have any pets?

lol my parents have a couple friend who does the same thing. minus the bathing suits...well not totally minus. they have clothes on lol that would be weird.

Yeah so I'm not an animal hater or anything. I live with my mom, sis, and BIL in a 2 family, so it's a group effort..wait..including her cat it's 7 cats in the house
FH and I have a no pets/max 1 pet rule.
I'm highly allergic to cats. Go figure.

I honestly think it's kinda corny to send a christmas card with a pic of me and DH... and to me, it is much more narcisistic than sending a picture of your kid... it's less narcisistic to send a card that says my kid is so cute and look how adorable this picture of him and santa is than to say look how fabulous me and DH are
BUT i did send photo STDs and photo TY cards for our wedding and I think that's totally different... a wedding is supposed to be all about the couple so it makes sense that you would send pictures of yourself... christmas isn't specifically a time to say look at us or celebrate anything specific about the couple so thats what makes it different to me, IMO

I like couple cards. I just got a hilarious one yesterday, but they are a very creative and funny couple. They out do themselves every year.
A couple of years ago I got a different "couple card" and I thought it was so cute. I put my family on my card, not just my daughter. I say why not?!

Because a wedding is all about you & DH! Even still, I only did a picture thank you-no STDs or any pictures of us as reception decorations. My friends that sent us the photo card of themselves like that kind of stuff & had their faces all over their wedding. Not my style, but not that odd, b/c it was a celebration of them.

I think that it is silly to put these type of ridiculous restrictions on Christmas cards !! Imo, it is the gesture of taking the time to wish someone a happy holiday season that really matters.

I did a pic holiday card of my and drmatt before kids. I saved all each year. I wanted a picture history of how my family evolved from year to year.
But, the picture was always us on vacation.

we don't have kids yet, and we usually do picture cards.... the first year we were married, we did one with a couple pics of us on the beach ( think engagement type pics) that our friend took for us... the next year, it was the two of us in front of the Rock. center tree, last year it had 2 pics on it- one of our dog sitting under the christmas tree and another one of Dh and i on vacation. this year, we just did a super cute one of our dog with reindeer antlers on 
maybe we're vain.... but we always get comments on how nice/cute the cards are- especially from DHs family, who we don't see that often. i like pictures, so i don't see the big deal either way
