I absolutely HATE this shopping thing they do. It is such crap!!!! Last year I wasn't going to send him in with anything and then my inlaws made me feel bad about it.
But it really is crap that gets thrown out. He got me a ring and the ruby fell out the next day. It literally is like a ring from a $.25 machine.
It's really about the shopping. The choosing, paying, etc. As someone who works the shops, I can tell you the kids love it
