Holiday questions

Now that I have my DD I just want to start some holiday traditions as a family.
I love the holiday season and I am even more excited since I am a mother now!
1) Do you open up gifts with DC on Xmas eve or Xmas morning?
2) Does someone dress up as Santa?
3) Do you leave milk and cookies out for Santa?
4) Favorite holiday movie to watch with DC?
5) Favorite holiday story you read DC?

You could also add any other holiday traditions.

He gets to open one gift form us on Xmas eve, and its always his Xmas pajamas.

2) Does someone dress up as Santa?
my uncle does every year. He has a bag filled with small token gifts, each labeled for every family member (all aunts, uncles, cousins, etc) and we get called up as he pulls our gift out and then we have to go sit on his lap to get our gift. Its hysterical watching our uncles try to sit on his lap.

3) Do you leave milk and cookies out for Santa?
yes and we also sprinkle reindeer food (oatmeal and glitter) on the lawn. In turn, aside from gifts, Santa hangs candy canes on the Christmas tree

4) Favorite holiday movie to watch with DC?
DH - Rudolph, mine - Polar Express

5) Favorite holiday story you read DC?
We have this really cool Santa Claus book that we read to him leading up to Christmas and then of course.....The Night Before Xmas gets read on Xmas eve

We give new PJs on Christmas Eve and open gifts on Christmas morning

No...might scare DS

Cookies. A really nice tradition is my mom gave us a special "cookies for Santa" plate

Our gifts to the kids are opened Christmas morning. A lot of years we exchange with my family on Christmas Eve, it depends on my brother's work schedule.

2) Does someone dress up as Santa?

No, my kids are scared of him.

3) Do you leave milk and cookies out for Santa?

Sure do, along with carrots for the reindeer. And we sprinkle reindeer food outside. We make it out of oatmeal and sparkling sugar crystals so that if an animal eats it they won't get sick.

4) Favorite holiday movie to watch with DC?

Mine love all of them, especially Charlie Brown Christmas and Frosty the Snowman. DS really likes Rudolph as well. DH likes watching Emmet Otter with them and can't wait until they are old enough for a Christmas Story.

5) Favorite holiday story you read DC?

The Night before Christmas.

1st off, congrats on being a mom...Christmas will never be the same!

We open all of the gifts on Christmas morning and Santa makes a stop @ my parents, so later on in the day, they come over and we open more presents.

No, DS is terrified of Santa

3) Do you leave milk and cookies out for Santa?
Always, and carrots and celery for the reindeer, as well as reindeer food outside.

4) Favorite holiday movie to watch with DC?
DH-Grinch me-John Denver & the Muppets Christmas special/Polar Express

5) Favorite holiday story you read DC?
The night before Christmas, and Polar Bear's December.

For us, Christmas eve we always go to church. DS loves the music, and we sing Silent Night with candles lit...it's beautiful.

DS gets 1 present from Santa on Christmas Eve to open. The rest are done Christmas morning

2) Does someone dress up as Santa?
DH dresses as Santa at Christmas Eve (pretty big dinner at DH's aunts house) and passes out presents to all the kids. (Each parent brings a present for their child with their name on it and Santa passes them out).

3) Do you leave milk and cookies out for Santa?
Yes, actually on Christmas Eve we bake our cookies for Santa. We also leave a carrot for Rudolph

4) Favorite holiday movie to watch with DC?
We always watch a Charlie Brown Christmas on Christmas morning, after we have opened our presents and I am usually getting breakfast together. DS favorite holiday movie is the Polar Express. He is obsessed!

5) Favorite holiday story you read DC?
We read The Night Before Christmas on Christmas Eve before bed

DS and I also make Reindeer food which we spread on the lawn before we leave for Christmas Eve dinner. It's easy, just oats and colored sugar!
