Holiday time splitting

how are you newlyweds splitting your upcoming holidays?

DH wants to go to his friends (like his sister) house who is hosting a small get together for thanksgiving. I wan to go with my Family. Trying to compromise and fit both it.

What is everyone else doing?

Re: Holiday time splitting

we always do thanksgiving at my family's house- it's my birthday on the 28th, and my cousins on the 22nd, so we just celebrate it then.

the day after we do another thanksgiving at DH's uncles house.

by the time we're done with both, we're stuffed until xmas Chat Icon

Re: Holiday time splitting

DH's parents live in Puerto Rico, so every holiday is with my family except for Christmas, which we are going to alternate. This will be the first year I won't be with my family...not looking forward to it!

Re: Holiday time splitting

This is the worst part of being married for me. DH family does their holidays the same time my family does. So, we alternate Thanksgiving and New Years Day and Christmas we split. I admit I a greedy. I want to be my my family for all the holidays!

Re: Holiday time splitting

My inlaws are jewish (although they put up a tree) so we do christmas eve at their house so they can see us and their other son and his wife who come up from Maryland and then we all go to my folks for christmas day, (me, my dh and my inlaws) It's worked out quite nicely for us

Re: Holiday time splitting

We were supposed to have both families together on xmas...but DH dad wants to spend time with his family which actually works out. So we will be doing xmas eve with his family and xmas with mine.

Re: Holiday time splitting

we alternate the holidays every year so there can be no hard feelings on either family's end.

This year it was Thanksgiving with his family and my family on Christmas Eve and his on Christmas Day.

He always gets NYE and we're always with my family on New Years Day
