So now that it's Holiday time
How many of us are hosting our first family Holiday Dinner in our Home?
I am going to FL for Thanksgiving (got away easy with that one ), but Christmas will be at our house this year.
I am sooo nervous & extremely excited all at the same time!!!

Re: So now that it's Holiday time
I was just talking about this with my DH today. We aren't doing Thanksgiving because we just moved on Friday but I asked him if he wanted to do Christmas Day. There was silence over the phone. I think he's nervous. I am too though. I think I would like to, but I just don't know if it's just too much in a short period of time. We will see. If not, next year then.

Re: So now that it's Holiday time
we can't, despite moving to a larger apartment with a formal dining space
we bought a dining table and chairs.... the table was delivered with a damage, so it was returned, and the chairs are only due to be delivered near the end of the month
If we get the set by mid december, we may have a new years party

Re: So now that it's Holiday time
I'm hosting dinner for 10 on Christmas. His mom's family, and my immediate family. I fully expect to be a raving lunatic before dinner is even on the table. I'm already getting complaints from my sister about what I'm serving for dinner.

Re: So now that it's Holiday time
We are hosting Thanksgiving for 12. I am really excited but at the same time a little worried that the turkey may not come out good! Not sure about Christmas...haven't decided yet.

Re: So now that it's Holiday time
We are, but it's not the way I pictured it. I normally like to cook, but this year I am making a turkey and that's it. I'm due to have a baby in a week, and doing a lot of shopping and cooking just wasn't sounding good at all this year.
We ordered sides from a gourmet deli near us, and his parents are bringing a salad, my sister is bringing bread and a dessert, so we are set.
I have the feeling my mother will wind up making most of the turkey, but that's fine with me.

Re: So now that it's Holiday time
No hosting for me. Continuing the tradition of my mother hosting Thanksgiving and I think my sister is hosting X-mas. DH & I might opt out of x-mas though. Completely depends on the new baby which is due to arrive at any time between now and . . . . .

And if that is the case, Dar, and you do want a Xmas meal close by, you can come by our place. We'e having eye round roast with mashed potatoes.

Re: So now that it's Holiday time
I don't ever plan on hosting at my house - I don't cook too well and wouldn't want to subject my guests to that!! LOL

We do Christmas Eve every year. There are 10 of us, it is tight, but I love it! My mom is the Thanksgiving expert.
