Re: Holy back PAIN... tell me this goes away
I'm right there with you- Its really my only complaint right now ! And to make matters worse, I was scheduled for a pre-natal massage for tomorrow and the place just called and said the girl who does them hurt her wrist and I have to re-schedule ..I had pretty bad back pain with DS also, its your body trying to over-compensate...Then comes that wonderful pain between the legs by your groin that happens towards the end, when you try to get out of bed ( that makes the back not feel so bad ) Sometimes sleeping with a pillow betweeen my legs on my side helps All for a good cause !

Re: Holy back PAIN... tell me this goes away
i agree with sleeping with a pillow between your knees. i have done that for years because of a history of back pain. i also won't sleep without a neck pillow. i believe the books always say to lay on your left side too, but either way i sleep on one of my sides. if i'm laying down in general i will place a pillow underneath my llegs to elevate them and take strain off my back, was taught that when i had sugery on my back.

Re: Holy back PAIN... tell me this goes away
I've had lots of bad back pain, but I had a bad back before I was even PG. My doctor said it's safe to use a heating pad (on your back, not on your front!) so I've relied on that a lot. And massages from DH. Some stretches also help, but make sure they're safe for PG women. Fit Pregnancy has safe stretches.

Re: Holy back PAIN... tell me this goes away
I HAD backpain... then I found 'THE' sleep position... now I'm 39 weeks and NO BACKPAIN!
Obviously, sleep on your side. in the 2nd and early 3rd trimester, you need a pile of pillows. you put a thin one under your belly to stop the weight from hanging from the dip in your spine. then, several pillows under the upper leg. the goal is to have the foot and the knee parallel to the mattress. make sure your knee is not lower than your foot, becuase that also twists your back. (I sleep with the upper leg bent, and the lower leg extended straight)
once I figured out this magic position, the pain disappeared.
HTH!
