home buyers - hypothetical question

So, you are locked in at a good rate with a bank, you think you found your house, it falls through...

you look at more houses (sort of in a hurry to keep that rate) find one that's very comparable to your first choice.

Re: home buyers - hypothetical question

I would never hurry to find a house just to keep the rate.

It probably would be tight timewise anyway. I had to have a fully executed contract before I could lock in a rate and it took two weeks after our offer was accepted to get that fully executed contract, and then another month to close (and we closed pretty quickly).

I wouldn't settle on a house just to keep a rate.

Same here. I think you said that the new one you found is comparable. Do you love it? If I loved it, I'd make a fair offer and try to close before I lose the rate.

Re: home buyers - hypothetical question

NEVER, EVER, EVER SETTLE! IF the rates go up a bit, you can always refinance down the road. But if you rush into buying a house you don't LOVE...not so easy to just up and move.

I wouldn't settle just to keep your rate before it ends.

I agree!
How comparable is the house to the first one?
