Re: Homemade ice cream

I use the vanilla recipe that came with the attachment. Always turns out very good. I have crushed up oreos and mixed them in. Also I have mixed in fruit.

Re: Homemade ice cream

I know I have to freeze the bowl attachment for a long time before hand- but can I make the mix beforehand and refrigerate it?

Re: Homemade ice cream

I just got an ice cream maker for Christmas so I'm still experimenting, but these three recipes have been great!

1. Easy Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

Almost Famous Frozen Yogurt

Alton's Vanilla Ice Cream

I have found that you need to make sure the bowl is REALLY frozen and the mixture that you put in it is also as cold as possible, but not frozen. I usually try to make sure to freeze my bowl for at least a day or two and I always prepare the mix I'm putting in ahead of time and leave it in the fridge for a few hours and up to overnight. I find it freezes easier that way. HTH!!

Re: Homemade ice cream

Thanks....just spent some time actually reading the recipes/directions and I saw that you mix the batter and have to chill it for hours before mixing.

Going to try a vanilla bean recipe first.
