We usually stay at the royal palm. I have stayed in most of the places on the strip and a few a couple blocks off. The whole trick in sobe is that a lot of the hotels do half renovations and have great rooms and crappy rooms in the same building. Make sure to ask when checking in.

We stayed at the Gansevoort the last time we were there (pre-baby) and had a lovely time. We would hang out at the rooftop pool and saw multiple celebrities. It was like a night club at the pool daily.
I thought the Setai was gorgeous. I did not stay there but I went to the spa there. Amazing ambiance.
